Audi S5 vs BMW 335i Autocar magazine comparison. Read on!!!
OK its 3:37 AM, and I am still on this freakin board Man, I am officially Loco. Blame it on the 335i that can't get to me fast enough! All the damn Procede stories aren't helping either.. Shiv, stop teasing and let us know what that 2.0 has.
Now for some qoutes.... The S5 is powered by the same 4.2 liter V8 found in the S4 and has gobs of grip and traction for tight turns. The Quattro adds stability and the V8 sings a beautiful melody. The S5 has a classy exterior and interior design along with quick acceleration, a wonderful exhaust note and Quattro for added stability and grip. This seems like a great car Before you choke on that chicken leg.. Here are the articles..... not looking good for audi so far. I was actually expecting this. Audi never been able to challange BMW on the overall package of engine/suspension/balance. Something has always been missing in those cars and they would have to completely reinvent the whole car to compete well.
I am as far from a BMW fanboy as it gets too. |

If money was no object, I'd take the S5. It's a complete package. To me, the only thing the 335 has on the s5 is a lower base price and more mod potential. The s5 is actually supposed to weigh in at 3500 lbs. which is damn good for audi. I do wish it came with a few more ponies. Can't go wrong with either car imo. RS5 should be a beast too.
btw, its not the exact engine as the s4. It has 10 more ponies and fsi. I'm a former audi owner, current e46 m3 owner, and I'm a fan of the 335. These are my opinions :P |

Audi vs BMW
I like the looks of the S5 far better than the incomplete boy racer new M3 2 door, but the love stops there. The 335 is a fantastic start. I do contend the 335 needs proper tires (both in grip and width) to aid stability and traction, but it may be the best car for the dollar I've ever purchased, maybe the 97 M3 I had was better overall, certainly not as comfy or as powerful though.
I'll admit to being tempted to look at the RS4, but for that money and the still less than stellar performance, I couldnt justify it (I owned a 911 TT at the time and for the same price, the 911 was leaps beyond the RS4). I've read the mags, but still doubt the new Audi supercar is better than the 911. In a year the mags wont like it, just like they dont with most new cars but write favorable reviews so they dont offend the manufacturer at launch. |

The current gen S4 is a passable sports sedan and nowhere near a sports car. The S5 seems to be about the same. Neither car is worth seriously comparing to the new M3.

I have hopes for the new CLK63 AMG Black Series that it has handling to go with the 500hp. Merc hasnt made a handler yet, but one can hope as their AMG engines are incredible. (M5 is a darling, but not until 130MPH+, which in this country is a waste).

Some car mags estimate the '08 Audi S5 to run 0-60mph in 5.1 sec.; if accurate, that's even slower than a stock 335i, let alone a PROcede 335.
