IDrive & Tire Pressure

for people with idrive, if there is not enough tire pressure, does the idrive give you a notice?

yes. it has happened to me once already. i put a pressure gauge on the tire that was reported to be low, it was down about 1 or 2 psi relative to the others. I was surprised that this would trigger a signal.

i'm sure the fact that the temp was well below 0 F had something to do with it. i put a little air in, reset the TPM and all was good. no problems since.

Men this is n othing to write home about. I have a Buick Lacrosse rental from enterprise and it shows you the exact tire pressure in each tire. Cross checked it with a gauge and it was spot on! Not only that, its got real (normal) tires not run-flats. If anything BMW is behind on that one. The Buick is an absolute boat though is all I gotta say.

On the sedan, it uses the other tire pressure sensor system (FTM). All warnings show up on iDrive with a narrative explanation -- this is nice, so you don't have to figure out what the little icon means. So a warning based on the FTM also would be shown on iDrive.

your warranty will not be voided if you change your tires provided you use german approved compressed air.

Yes, tire pressure notification system definitely works. Both of my front tires have had low tire pressure already. It gives you a notice that tells you which tire the system has detected has low pressure and doesn't go away until you pump air. It also cautions you not to drive over 60 mph. Hope that helps
