Annoying E93!!!

I was just at the dealership taking a looking at my E93 that came in and noticed that if you do not have comfort access you CANNOT open open the top with the key fob!!!! Any other BMW converts e.g Z4, 6 series, old E46 convert you can open the top with the fob but you have to get in the car to close the top.

Since my build date was in Feb I could not get the Comfort access!!
SO ANNOYING!!

yeah... I won't let anyone order a 'vert without it after finding that out (there is no way your CA could have known how they would react when you ordered since they are still so new). I thought the non-CA ones would be just like the rest, but now we know. either way, your other option is to pull the metal key out of the fob and put it in the door handle and turn left and hold it there. it's not as nice, but it will make it so you don't have to get in

Yeah, I ordered an e93 end of March and didn't get CA. I changed my mind a few days later - decided it would have been a good idea - but too late; the car had gone almost straight into production. I have the equivalent of CA on a Prius and it's fine but not earth shattering; it only occurred to me later how much more useful it be on the cabrio. Oh well. Maybe at some point it'll be something that can be added later.

My car was built about Feb 6, I think the first week of E93 production, and I got CA; it was available. Although the brochure said March production, the order sheet had CA on it and my CA said that meant it would be on the car. Sorry you didn't get it.

BTW, CA also lets you put the top UP remotely, despite rumors that you couldn't do this in the USA.

Only 6FL and HD radio weren't available until March. I'm still upset about 6FL, but I would have delayed my order if I couldn't get CA. Partly for the top remote, but more for day to day un/locking and keyless start.

you should have left the car at the dealership and told your dealer..'no deall' then turned around and immediately placed a new order on another cabrio since it sounds like this is something thats gonna bother you for the life of the car.

the dealer of course would have absolutely no problem with this arrangement... he'd immediately turn around and sell the cabrio to some unsuspecting dunce for a markup...and another sale when your new one comes in off the boat.

I'm with you, slick! Opening the top with the key fob should be standard. You should have the privledge of watching that thing open as you walk up to it. It's a work of art and IMO, the opening of the top is an event that you should enjoy from the outside if you so choose. You certainly paid for it!

IMHO, BMW really blew that one. I wonder how many others thought they could not get it? You can blame the buyer and the CA a little too, but since BMW said it wasn't available, its not something you tend to question. I suppose the more experienced CA/buyer might, but still BMW USA seems to botch the details like this all time (see the 6FL iPod cable debacle).

While I understand your upset, you have to remember it makes this absolutely clear in both the press release and feature section.

I wouldn't blame the CA... if they had ordered it with CA and that caused BMW to push the production back to march it would have been worse. we really have no idea what BMW will and won't allow and since the order sheets show that CA was delayed I wouldn't have ordered it either without being sure the customer wanted it so badly they would wait a month.

Yeah I was mostly blaming BMW NA, just trying to be a little political since some people will flame you if your blame anyone but the CA/customer. I guess it backfired on me tho.

Apparently drkeng's CA had the inside track, or else maybe he was just ok with the possibility of waiting for a march build if that is what it took to get Comfort Access.

i would GLADLY wait another month for the CA on the e93.

walking up to the car and dropping the top etc etc is priceless imo. it would def. be a deal breaker for me.

Opening your roof with the keyfob is standard equipment in the UK. You don't have to buy CA. Maybe that's why we have to pay nearly twice as much for our cars

yeah... with the comfort access you get comfort opening and comfort loading... both are fantastic and well worth the $500 even if you didn't get the other benefits of comfort access.

My Client Adviser checked something and determined that CA would be available. After we went through all the options, the order sheet printed with CA and said "order submitted" or something like that. She said this meant that it would have CA. I wanted 6FL, but she said that wasn't available and if I wanted to wait, my order would be delayed until at least April and maybe July. If we had put it on the order and it only meant BMW would have delayed the build until March, that would have been okay. Obviously, I should have talked to someone higher up at the dealer to get better satisfaction.

As it turned out, the car was held at the VPC until late March and I got my car around the same time as LEDZEP who got one of the first 6FL's. Now I'm stuck with the dealer ipod solution or waiting on the off chance fantasy that in a few months the dealer can install an ipod usb input. The only downside of the dealer ipod seems to be speed and I only have a 4GB nano, so it may be ok. I also love Sirius and don't mind switching between a few favorite channels. As I've whined before, they probably could have guaranteed me an early April delivery with 6FL, especially since I put down a deposit last July.

Given that my E46 could lower the top remotely (I think I got one of the first one of those), it should have carried to the E93, even if you couldn't put it up. E46 couldn't put it up; could do it with the key held in lock position in the door.
