Thinking of ditching Premium Package
I have just a bit more time to change, and am thinking about deleting the Premium Package (but keeping the Dakota leather). So instead of:
- power seats - power folding mirrors - auto dimming - BMW assist - bluetooth - digital compass and garage door openers I can get for the same money (within $150 of the original price): - comfort access - Logic 7 sound - Cold weather instead of just heated seats (this is because I just heard there's no pass-through without cold pkg) - seats that QUICKLY fold and slide forward to let the kids into the back seat I've heard less than amorous comments about the auto-dimming, and I try not to talk on the phone in my car. Comfort access I would use every time I start the car, unlike some of those other features. Any thoughts on whether this would be a good tradeoff? Thanks in advance. |

I went without it. I don't think I will miss it. Have neer had navigation, idrive, or blue tooth in m life. Bought some 19" M6 rep wheels and tires for about the same price.

Leatherette is fine, bluetooth missing is not that big of a deal. I think the premium package is a ripoff--this is a good choice for you IMO.

I have premium pacakge and enjoy everything it brings (especially bluetooth), but its nothing you can't live without. Comfort access is definitely nice and I wouldn't get the car without it. The folding side mirrors are a nice thing to have as well, but all in all these are all very minor things and will not take anything away from the "soul" of the car. You will be happy with whatever you get! Good luck on the purchase and enjoy your car!

+1, I ditched mine, added bluetooth. Forget the leather, I have not seen one car that has "tight" leather. I've had leatherette (not vinyl) in past two bimmers and they are PERFECT! If your in the car for the long haul, it's the only choice.
Don't forget assist/bluetooth and the comfort access. Your getting sport pkg, right? there is your power/memory seats.

I'm not getting bluetooth becuase I don't want people hearing my conversation when they are in the car with me. Plus, I bought a nice BT headset (jawbone).

- power seats = The memory seats are great. - power folding mirrors = great when parking in tight spaces or at drive thrus - auto dimming = can't live without. - BMW assist = ? Will barely use it. - bluetooth = Always on the phone. Need it when I'm driving 100mph - digital compass and garage door openers = It works for me since I have a garage. - comfort access = Without doubt a must have. - Logic 7 sound = If you are lazy and don't want to install an aftermarket get it you won't regret it. - Cold weather instead of just heated seats = Where I'm from not required. |

I'd rather get bluetooth instead of leather if you are on the phone a lot.

I didn't get premium and I don't miss it. Things like bluetooth are things you won't even think twice about unless you've had it and gotten used to it and then it's taken away. If you've never even used it, you won't care at all.
I did get the leather though and I'm glad I did. I like it a LOT more than the leatherette that my friends have. And I don't know about the average person, but I could definitely tell that it wasn't real leather. You might not care though. I loved CA...but it doesn't work that great for me lately... |

If you dont want them to hear your conversation just transfer the call to your handset. A nice BT headset cannot compare to having bluetooth in your car. BT headsets are junk compared to having fully integrated bluetooth
