Tires not right on VMRv710?? - Pls Help
Hi Everyone,
I have a set of VMR's 19" that are getting destroyed by the roads around here (NYC/CT). Way too many pot holes. I'm currently on a staggered (19x8.5, 19x 9.5) setup with a typical VMR tire setup from what I've read and saw from other forum members and was recommended to me upon purchase. Fronts are 235/35 Rears are 265/30 However, I'm not sure if others are experiencing the same destruction to the wheels but just within two seasons they are practically squares. Can anyone recommend what I might need to change on my next tire setup to get them a little bit more protected. I feel as if the tires barely cover the width of the wall so the rim is exposed and the sidewall might not be thick enough to absorb the impacts. Which of the two should i adjust?? or should I adjust both?? Also, I'm currently on Sport suspension so I have a gap to play with on tire adjustments however I'm looking to drop on H&R Sport Springs shortly so I'm worried about rubbing and If i'd have to make further adjustments. Please provide any feedback as I'm not too experience with tire/suspension tech. Pictures below. You can see from the first one the damage of a pothole. Sorry if this hurts your neck reading. Thanks, Mehale

- 19"x8.5" ET35mm Front 235/35/19 - 19"x9.5" ET33mm Rear or 19"x10" ET38mm Rear 265/30/19 Are you under inflated? Also are you experience out of alignment handling? For example car moving left or right while running.? Your tires are definitely correct and should be fine if your inflated to around 42-44rear and 38-40front. |

Thanks. I'll check the tire pressure when I get home. It would irritate me that something so simple would really be causing me all this grief but it indeed could be the case as I haven't checked it recently.
The weather has been so radical this season that I might need to check more frequently to make sure its filled up to the requirements.

you could alway bump up width and tire sizes maybe
235/40/19 or 245/35/19 or 245/40/19 the 245/35/19 will be within factory specs and is a little taller (more side wall) and the other two will rotate slower then normal by 5%-6% slower 265/35/19 or 275/30/19 or 275/35/19 the 275/30/19 will be within factory specs and is a little taller (more side wall) and the other two will rotate slower then normal by 5%-6% slower If any of that makes sense |

I would definitely check the pressures first and diagnose from there. Are you running our 9.5 or 10" rears?

I have a feeling it is a tire pressure which I can verify shortly.

I was
I was at 35 on both from and rear. Is that extremely deflated for the required specs??? Please advise as I feel that might be the root problem

I also run the same specs on my VMR 710's, 19's with the same stagger specs. I always have my tire pressure at 40psi for front and rear and never had a problem. Hope this helps.

and rears are 275/30/19 with no rubbing but 275/35/19 will def rub on every little bump on stock sports suspension. |

i just installed my CSLs last week and already have a rim bent because of potholes >:O so i feel for ya man.
i have a similar setup, with 8.5 fronts and 9.5 rears but i have 225/35 in the front and 265/35 in the back. i was wondering what was recommended air pressure to keep for front/rear. is this the same pressure for maximum fuel efficiency? thanks! |
