BMW wheel and tire insurance exclusions?
What are the exclusions to the wheel and tire insurance through BMW?
Are bubbles in the tires covered? Anyone have any claims denied by the dealer and if so what for? Thanks. |

I believe bubbles in the sidewalls are covered -- the dealer has replaced two tires on my M3 for sidewall bubbles.
The rim protection seems a little less comprehensive -- one of the rims got bent in the same pothole that caused the bubble, but the repair wasn't covered because the dealer indicated that unless the tire on the wheel couldn't hold air, the policy did not kick in for the wheel. |

+1. Wheel coverage is weak. If the tire holds air, even if the rim is severely bent, the wheel is not covered. Mark |

if tire is equal to or less than 2/32 in depth and tire coverage is Void if uneven or abnormal tire wear occurs.
Bought a cpo and the tire coverage. A month later passenger tire burst and so i drove to the dealership thinking i would be covered, boy i was wrong. Dealer said i needed two front tires at cost close 1k. I told them about my warranty and they said the alignment was off causing the tire to wear unevenly and that the inside of tire read less than the 2/32 nds on both front tires and neither would be covered because of that. I immediately asked for a refund and bought 4 non runflats for less than 1k i was quoted for just the two. |

I was under the impression that you can cancel anytime and get back your pro-rated amount - the cost of any claims - a 40 processing fee.
Does anyone know if bubbles are covered?????? |

BMW does not have a wheel/tire insurance program. Dealers sell many different plans like this. They are highly profitable for them but do pay off for some. I doubt many will pay for bubbles because they will say it is a defect not from a road hazard although we all know they are in fact caused by road hazards and crappy engineering by Bridgestone.

I purchased wheel and tire protection from the get go for 600 bucks. Got 3 bubbled RFTs, got paid over 1200 bucks. It already paid for itself 2 times over. Well worth the investment. The company Park Ave BMW uses is Zurich- the only downside - I only have 2500 bucks total to smoke. Shouldn't be a big deal since I've swapped out my RFTs with Yokos

Yes, bubbles are covered. I've had a tire or two replaced due to sidewall bubbles. Warranty works best if you use it at your local dealership. I've had problems getting a tire fixed under warranty at a BMW dealership when I was out of state. |
