last battery question! charging now! quick reply needed
i still have my battery issues...i havnt been able to get it taken care of. my car has been parked for 4 days with a dead battery. before i jumped it and it started up after 2 min the cables were attached...
now the cables from my van have been attached for 5 minutes and im not getting anything...not even that sound when you put ur key in ignition...should i just keep cables attached for 30 min?? how bad is this? my battery is absolutely dead to the world...i couldnt even open my trunk with by pushing the button on my key lol... just didnt know if keeping the cables on the car for an extended period of time will hurt the car? or would that even rectify the problem if my battery is indedd dead? will it slowly charge and charge? |

The battery could be sulfated. If it is sulfated it will not pass current. You can leave the cables on all day and it will not accept a charge nor start the car. If if the battery is broken (i.e. sulfated), it is time for a new one. Call the tow truck. Make sure it's a flat bed.

Your battery is toast. My old battery was the same way right before it just stopped holding a charge and I had to get a new one.

any recommendations as to what battery to get? i asked autozone what their books suggest for an 06 330xi and they pulled a battery that ran about 165 bucks....im guessing that still cheaper then a OEM one from dealership?!? would a replacement battery from autozone be a bad idea?? is it plug and play or do i need to program/register something to do so??

You should register the battery to protect both the new battery and your car's electrical system. And have your mechanic check the IBS unit as well as the alternator as it would be nice to know why the battery failed.
