Lock car without alarm?
I had my car on a ferry to Martha's Vineyard and they made me sit in my car since the alarm kept going off.
If there a way to lock the car without having the alarm set? I tried using the key in the door, but it set the alarm. Also, not that I want to leave the car unlocked...but will the motion/tow alarm go off because of the motion even while unlocked? Thanks

Hate this. Used to have to leave my Audi unlocked on ferrys. I assume you can do the same with a BMW.
Conveniently, since alarms are not standard in BMWs, I no longer have that problem.

1, pushing the lock button twice disengages the tilt alarm (which is designed to prevent someone from jacking up your car and stealin your wheels/towing your car right out of you driveway). Next time just click it twice and it should turn off.

+1 on pressing lock twice.
It should also disable the motion sensor inside the car in case you want to leave a pet or so in there for a brief short period of time. |

From the manual:
Switching off tilt alarm sensor and interior motion sensor Press the button on the remote control again as soon as the vehicle is locked. The indicator lamp comes on for approx. two seconds, then begins to flash steadily. The tilt alarm sensor and the interior motion sensor are switched off until the next time the vehicle is unlocked and subsequently locked again. |

Just tried it, double pressed the lock button, red light went solid for a second then off then blinking.
When I do a single click it goes straight to blinking. I will try it tonight when I am on the ferry. I hope that works....nothing worst then hearing "will the owner of the blue BMW please go to your car"... then 5 minutes later..."will the same owner of that BMW come to your car again"

Amazing what you'll find in the owner's manual isn't it?
