Non BMW dealer for repairs?

I was wondering what the thoughts are on going to a non BMW dealer for repair work. I live over 70 miles from the nearest BMW dealer. I have a Nissan dealer that’s a few miles from my house. I’m out of the Factory warranty but I have a NAC service contract that will cover my repairs. The problem I’m having currently is possible waste gate rattle; also I think the power steering pump is going out.

Go to an indy shop, not another shop full of teenage monkeys who have never had the chance to joyride a bmw before.

Ok thanks for the input...on the steering pump, I'm not sure. Fuild level is fine but when I back out of the garage or turn at a slow speed I get a strain in the steering wheel, almost like its rumbing on something. Once I start driving faster, no problem.

By the way, the waste gate rattle could be an easy fix if:

(1) it's the rear one that's rattling
(2) you have the right tools (cheap) and are pretty handy

Search for Mr. 5's thread where he talks about how to fix it, and read through the pages for more info.
