Service engine soon light after coding?
Had my car coded tonight for 3 things: windows up with fob, seatbelt noise delete, and digital speedo. Right after we finished my service engine light came on and we put every thing back to stock and the light was still on. After a 20 minute hwy drive home, still on.
Coincidence? |

mines came on too, have you tried doing the service engine soon reset?
RESET Step 1 Insert key into slot Step 2 Press start/stop button without depressing clutch/brake and wait for the service reminder to disappear. Step 3 Immediately after service reminder goes out, press and hold the odometer reset. After 3 secs a warning triangle will appear, keep the odo. button pressed and after another 2-3 secs the Oil can will appear. I f you hold it too long (10 secs in total) you will overshoot the runway and some German writing will appear giving the software level/ can bus etc. of the car. Go back to the beginning and start again. Step 4 You are now in the service menu, use the toggle switch on indicator stalk to scroll up/down through the various service items. Step 5 When you have the item you want to reset showing, press the BC button on end of indicator stalk. Reset should now appear in the display. Press in and hold the BC button for 2-3 secs and a clock will start whirling around and hey presto, its done Step 6 You can now either scroll up/down to select another item (as in step 4) or you can press the start/stop button to exit. let me know how it goes, i think its the digital speedometer that caused this |

Also make sure he used your .TRC file. When I first coded my car I used the TRC file from an 06 325i and it made my car throw a Engine code, code said I had to change a filter. It was an error on my part, but I managed to rewrite my stock TRC file and everything went back to normal, I then changed the settings on my TRC file and everything work as intended.

After coding especially the Kombi, it is common for service intervals to fall about 1,000 miles. So if you were on the verge or needing an oil change it may be telling you that you need one now. Pretty simple, and common.

First of all, you cannot reset a SES light through the turn signal stalk.
Second of all, you should scan you car and see what code is being thrown. Asking if it is a coincidence or not without providing any info about the code tripping the SES light will not get you an answer. The guy who coded your car should be able to pull the code through INPA. |
