Hankook V12 EVO defeated by Sumitomo HTRZ III in recent test

It was close, but I was still a bit surprised to see the HTRZ III rank higher overall.

Check out the test here :

Huh? They placed second overall. Plus, they said that they had good handling and ride comfort minus the wet traction...

I think Gary made a good recommendation IMHO.

Gary, I just did a search on Tirerack for my car (matching front and rear set for 2006 330i sport) and checked dunlop only and it didn't list that tire for some reason. It only listed the Direzza Sport Z1 and Direzza DZ101. Everything else was checked as far as speed ratings, performance ratings, etc. The only thing that was customized was the brand. Any ideas on why this would be? I was able to find the SP Sport MAXX TT manually and both 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 are available sizes.

What I do when that happens to is double check to see if those tires are made in the sizes you're looking for. Simply browse by brand.

They have different load indices. I believe it is ok to use them though. Gary can you confirm this?

I did do that.. I knew they were made in the sizes I needed. I was just wondering why they didn't come up when I searched using their tool that finds matching front and rear sets in the OEM size.

The V12 EVO and HTRZIII is available in both of those sizes. Not sure why the site didn't show them but it appears that your search results showed only Dunlop tires so perhaps that box was checked.

I was referring to the Dunlop SP Sport MAXX TT, hence why dunlop was checked.. I guess my post was a little confusing since this topic doesn't mention the Dunlop. When I clicked the link you posted for the comparison test, I saw that the Dunlop ranked 1st so that's what I was referring to. I know when I bought my Conti DWs and I was comparing tires that I didn't recall seeing the MAXX TT in the search results and that's why I was asking if there was a reason why. No biggie, I'm very happy with my DWs.

I had these HTRZ III tires on my e92 coupe, staggered set-up, and they were great tires. THey had awesome dry traction, decent wet traction. I dont have a huge amount of experience with a lot of various tires and brands, but the sumitomo's were relatively awesome tires.

Interesting.. I'm in love with the V12s, but once these are done, I may have to try out the HTRZ

Hmm interesting. Got to say though I would still stick with Hankook, but I am biased as I been an owner of those tires for a good time now.

I have the summis now since last nov. Only have 6k miles and the rears are almost done. The oem rft bridgestones lasted 20k miles. That said they are one of the best tires I have ever run. Quiet, good traction and response.

I love the wet traction of my V12s. I'll be sticking with those.

Gary, I am buying a set of tires for my new m166s for my e60 (245 35 19 and 275 30 19/285 30 19) and I am deciding wether to buy hankook ventus v12 or goodyear assymetrics which have a discount right now. thing is that I have 2 questions:
1) which one would you recommend, hankook or goodyears?
2) I remember a recall or some issue with the 2007 goodyears f1 assymetrics so I was wondering if there is something wrong with the lot those tires came from(excesive noise, uneven wear or something). if you are sure there isnt anything wrong with those goodyear assymetrics you are selling,Id like to order a set.
edit: you should be allowed to get private messages as other vendors because it would be easy for us customers to get in contact with you, just a recommendation.

The F1 Asymmetric is definitely a better performance tire overall. There is no issue with the 2007 tires, just a special buy that we got on a large quantity of older stock.
