annoyed with this "recall"

Hey all,

New member here just bought my 06 330i...have had an 01 330 and an 04 525 loved every car...and im lovin this one so far...when i bought the car I knew there was a recall for the passenger airbag and seatbelt being on at the same time (seat mat sensor problem) because I dealt with it with my e60. I called the dealer and they said my particular vin is not affected with the vin. I did a search on here and it looks like its affecting a lot of people whose vins "are not covered". I called BMWNA they told me they cant do anything unless I take it in to a dealer to get it checked and they can not get the 150$ just to look at it waived. the car has 68k miles and does have the sport package seats. I have to get this fixed because god forbid, if I do get into an accident and have a passenger they could be seriously injured. anyone deal with a similar situation and get it resolved? any suggestions? thanks a lot guys! other issues i have are rear passenger window goes down but takes like 50 tries to go up...im assuming window regulator? and the car has Comfort Access, but wont let me unlock by tapping door handle? I can lock it but not unlock is there a magic way of doing this lol.
thanks again for the input! long time member on e46fanatics and I love the BMW community!

try talking to another dealer and tell them that you know that your car isnt part of the recall campaign but you are still experiencing the same issues.

best thing you can do is take it to the dealer or an indy and just pay for the inspection.

thats the gamble you take when you buy a used car, especially a bmw.

I am so sick of hearing some dealers shirking their basic responsibility to ensure the safety of our cars.

First, pay the $150.

Second, if BMW still refuses to fix it and return your $150 then tell them via letter you intend to file a complaint with the NHTSA.

Explain that you will urge the NHTSA that BMW must expand the scope of its recall campaign to include your model car.

I virtually guarantee these lazy ass dealers will be directed to fix your car. Why? Because, this was a known issue that BMW failed to address while your car was under warranty.

Let us know how you make out.

CA lock is the ridged area on top of the handle, but unlock is behind the handle. So grab the handle as if you're opening the door, and the car should unlock. Generally the unlock works better than the lock, though neither work all the time.

took it to central bmw had them diagnose it, turned out to be a B column wiring issue? taxed me 280 for "labor" and he "hooked it up for the module" 85 bucks...car is in dealer overnight wont be ready till tomorrow. said for sure isnt the seat mat sensor...

I'm as up for calling BMW on their shenanigans as anyone else re: their warranty denials, but if they say the recall affects WBABW73465PG96765-9000, and yours is 9001+, couldn't it be that they corrected the issue and 9001+ are perfectly good? Didn't that Prius guy James Sikes from El Cajon do the hoax because his car was excluded from a recall? I have to admit these stories like the Prius and Ft. Collins Balloon Boy hoax sure make it easier to endure these very trying times...I remember being at the gym on the elliptical and seeing CNN and some balloon floating away and Wolf Blitzer at his best.
