I'd like to get my alignment done and was wondering if there was anything special on bimmers that most shops can't do or work on them?
is there anything special about aligning bimmers e92s in general? how much would you guys pay? The dealers price is $300. Anyone know any shops in socal? (BESIDES of course Darrel or Darren in Torrance, West Coast Alignment) |

Wow that's a hell of a Bimmer tax to be $300 for an alignment. The $180 328xi0wner mentioned sounds realistic, without a BMW owner tax added in. Your question reminds of the finance guy in Kentucky saying I can't do brakes on my 335xi myself. He claimed some piece can only be taken off by a BMW tech, lolz, that's a good one finance guy at a Ford dealership. He was trying to get me to piss away money on a warranty, brilliant idea spend $3000 up front for things that might happen to an 07 with 19000 miles over the next 3 years. Bit off topic here sorry.

but i read somewhere that in order to properly align the car, the weights have to be used on the car. some align shops don't use weights.
secondly, the dealer uses the term "laser" alignment. are most shops using laser alignment? |

Its a 4 wheel alignment and
Its a little different than is done on a standard car. If you do it
to BMW specs they spec actually putting 150 lbs worth of weight in each seat . My Indy shop actually does it that way. |

fwiw my dealership usually charges $199 and had a "sale" recently for $149. I prefer the dealership for alignments even if its an extra, say, $50 or so for what is hopefully a seldom-required service item.

I was told by 2 indy shops that they could do it, but it wouldn't be perfect. I just decided to take it to the dealer and at least they give loaners.

Whatever place you do take it to though, make sure the place has a hunter alignment system.
