Excessive air conditioner condensation - 2011 335is

Here's a fun one...

I was driving in 80 degree weather with my air conditioner on yesterday for about 45 minutes. Near the end of my trip as i exited the freeway i proceeded to take the off ramp loop at a spirited pace. Half way through the turn a bunch of water splashes on my feet inside the car!

Just curious if this has happened to anyone else, or if anyone has noticed excessive condensation under our cars after using the air conditioner.

This has never happened to me, and first time hearing about it.

First of all, how much water or we talking about? Disney World Splash Mountain or a few droplets? Where exactly does it come from?

It was from under the dash in the driver footwell.

I would say about an ounce of water came out.

That's a new feature. When it's above 80 it cools your feet with a refreshing splash of cool water every 45 minutes.

Seriously though, never heard of that before.

My AC completely froze over once during a long trip (no air was coming out) and I had to press the AC button, let the fan blow, then turn it back on 10 mins later. This was when the car only had 4k on the odo.

Not a 335....but I was driving my car for 7 hours yesterday in 100F weather with tons of humidity....my 2011 325 didn't leak a drop anywhere. Nor should it. Ever! period.

Might be something loose in the connections...better get the dealer to check it out.

Your evaporator drain hose(s) is plugged up. It drains under the car somewhere, find it and clear it out.

The car will still leave puddles of water under the car, could a partial blockage still cause the problem you think?

what you are describing is exactly what happened to a friend of mine; clogged tube. Cost her $30 to flush the lines. BTW; this is on a chevy impala or some sorts.

cheers.

my old car did that...but it had 140k miles at the time.

turns out the rubber pipe that drains the condenser to outside was loose and just needed a new fitting.

take it to the dealer though, you're in warranty
