A5 OR 335I

Just Looked At A Couple Pics Of The New A5, Man Does That Thing Look Sweet. Been Driving My 335i For 2 Months Now. I May Be Considering A Trade In. For Those That Dont Have A 335i Or Are Just Waiting For Their Vehicles To Arrive. Any Comments? I'm Thinking Maybe Im Getting Bored Of My 335i.

s5 is in the same level of 335i... I dun think A5 can compare with it.
In my opinion, S5 is for comfort and interior... 335i for handling...
And.. I do think that the S5 is kinda slow... I mean in response to what you want to do bcuz of awd... but if you dun buy awd, i dun think u want a Audi...
just my opinion.

You can look at pics and specs till youre blue in the face. You wont know anything till you plop your butt in the seat and go for a test drive. You might find that the solidity, ergonomics, handling etc. of the BMW make you enjoy it better. Or not.

I think the A5 looks nicer, however Audis - at least here in Europe - have rock-hard ride comfort and they have FWD heritage

To get performance simular to the 335 you would have to buy the S5 and thats already in M3 money area.

Different strokes for different folks. I can see why some people would want to make the switch. The S5 seems more upscale, looks more luxury and more refined. The 3 is sportier and more performance oriented. Pick what you like, and enjoy. Personally, i'd take both But i'll take the 3 while i'm young.

Yea After Looking At The Specs, I Realized That The A5 Cannot Compare With The 335i. Gotta Love Forced Induction Cars. Few Mods Here, Few Mods There And Bammm, You Have A Rocket!!

I have to admit the A5 is very nice looking. I'd order them as follows: 335i sedan, A5, 335i coupe for looks. I haven't looks at the specs yet...

A5/S5 is an incredible looking thing in the flesh

and this is the big one

the interior (ive been in it) is unbelieveably well made!!!!!!

as for the performance, i have a torsen qaut car, and i gotta tell u, with a suspension, the handling limits are much higher than a 335i, and ive driven plently of e90 loaners. that being said, the 335i has the type of engine that the A5/S5 SHOULD HAVE!

everything being said, looks, interior, reliability (audis are quickly becoming bulletproof), and luxury go to the A5/S5.

but one day, after you get that car, a E9X 335i owner will pull up next to you, and destroy you..........

peformance and 95% of what i stated in favor for the A5/S5 are possessed by the E9X 335i, therefore imho, 335i ftw.......

PS

335i is gonna be a shit load cheaper!

I'm guessing the A5 will perform between a 328 and a 335, but will be priced the same or more as a 335. The S5 will perform between a 335 and a M3 but will cost the same as a M3. The US pricing will probably be better than the Canadian.

Anyway, the A5/S5 are gorgeous cars. I'm anxious to see them get put through the paces by auto journalists.

I'm betting 335i Sport > S5 in all-around performance.

at the very least test drive them both, then you may be able to feel a difference.

I dunno. With 354 hp and 325 of torque, probably not without first paying a visit to Mr. Shiv.

Former A4 owner here. I think the Audi is nice but would worry about how it holds up. My 330Ci has aged WAY better than the A4 did. Also, not sure about the styling. It looks like a cross between the last gen CLK and a Hyundai Tiberon. It's a bit too chunky for me, especially around the C pillar.

What does it weigh? With AWD probably 3900 lbs. Considering 335i's are ~325 HP / ~340 TQ and weigh at least 300 lbs less, I'll meet your S5 at any track.

S5=e92 335i in performance (not sure about handling). Besides S5 is way more expensive than 335i. A5 is definitely a weaker performing coupe. Also wait until you see it in person. Not sure if there is any competition at all.

If the S5 came with a forced induced engine, it would be a sure hit. but even now, I think it should be a better daily driver than the 335i. (especially if you have got bad road conditions)

Having said that, unlike most people here, a few hundred lbs would not matter to me in a 3000+lbs daily driver(where I would certainly place more emphasis on interior quality).
zomg, the 335i can out accelerate the S5 by XXsecond...whoop de doo! we are stuck in a traffic jam.

well, I'm still getting a 335i because i know it would (or at least plan to) not drive it everyday. more of a weekend fun car or for roadtrips really.
