Aftermarket Exhaust Options for 550/535i?
Hi all,
I'm ready to move on from my E90 M3 and considering the new 5er. I've had them as loaners. They're very comfortable, plenty fast, and great looking. However the M3 V8 makes me giddy after 3 years of ownership, which of course the regular 550 doesnt have (I'm sure the M5 will). Anway, are there ways to make the 550i "sound" like an M car? I'm assuming Dinan will have an exhaust to add some sport. However are there things that can be done with the engine, etc? I've done some searching and found the Dinan flash. I'm really not interested in a performance boost, as this car is plenty fast for my needs. I'm looking for a sportier sound thanks.

Does the 550i auto blip on downshifts, like the M3 DCT?

That's a really interesting system for a 535 I reckon. Lets you move to quads and have the option of louder and retarded loud if you could run the cutout all the way to a new tip at the rear. Something to think about I've mentally debated exhaust work on the car, but something like that would be killer and def make the decision much easier. |

Here is a photo of mine: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=530637 no sound clip yet though. Oh and the difference between a 535 ACS exhaust and a 550 ACS exhaust is night and day. While my 550 was in the shop I drove around a 535 ACS car it had the exhaust and the sounds are completely different. 535 is higher pitched and the 550 is very deep throated.

The AC Schnitzer does sound good!
Looking forward to the Dinan later this year. Also - I am partial to Magnaflow, have them on my other car. They have PN 15499 under development for the 550i Magnaflow sounds good with solid HP gains. They really nailed it on the new 1 series IMHO. http://www.magnaflow.com/04sound/spo...011bmw_1m.html

The ACS sounds bad ass! Exactly what I would be looking for if I was to do a 550i MSPORT. You said it takes time to get used to - what do you mean by that? Is it too loud or obnoxious? Or just "different" than what you're used to?

I've got a Meisterschaft quad setup with an x pipe on the way. I'll post detailed photos, sound clips and review once it's installed and revving
There are many options, from Akrapovic, Hamann,ACS, Supersprint, Eissenman, Meisterschaft, or even just going to your local muffler shop and getting a magnaflow or flowmaster custom quad setup. |
