Looking for advice: E90 sport 17" wants to go to 18"

Hey all: I've got the 328i sedan with sport package. Thinking about going up from my 161s to an 18" solution to gain the look and feel of the larger wheels. I'm going to be ditching the RFTs and going to Cont DWS or something like that. I like the looks of the 197s or the VB3 CSLs. Just very unsure of the whole clearance/offset thing. Any guidance appreciated, including comments on whether on I should just keep my wheels and go with 17" non-RFTs.
