Angel Eyes..which MY and car had them first?

Hello all,

I was looking at cars today, and I suddenly felt that Audi's first generation LEDs are really looking dated already. It's not that I don't like them, they do look great, but when you see the smooth LED bars on the A8, the eyebrow LEDs on the 1M, the older, individual LEDs look really chunky and outdated to me.

The angel eyes, whether the amber or the new LED, still look fresh and modern to me. (Though at first I really preferred the Audi LEDs, not I feel the opposite.)

So...which model and year was the first BMW to feature OEM angel eyes? Which model had them first...and what year did the 3 series get them?

I believe the first was the E39 5 Series for the MY 2001 facelift. The E90 was the first 3 series to get them.

Here in the UK, the pre-LCI 3 Series did not have angel eyes even at 335i or d level!! After the LCI in 2009, the beautiful angel eyes arrived!

It was the 2001 e39 5-series, followed by the 2002 7-series .. +1 for you, Bimmer84
