can someone verify a partitioned USB?
i have a 16GB USB drive i want to load music onto to transfer to the idrove 13GB space... id like to partition the USB with part1 as fat32 12.5GB and leave the rest as free space. i want to do this so i can just drag and drop until its full and not worry about leaving 3-3.5GB empty on the drive, essentially making my USB match the HDD.
i dont get my car until tomorrow and want a USB drive ready, would it work partitioned as such? sure i could just load 12-13GB on there this one time and not worry about it, but im curious. |

Not sure. But I'd assume there are some formats which the car won't read so I'd just format the other portion of the drive to a format which the car doesn't recognize so it doesn't think 2 drives are plugged in.

The car can recognize at least as 120 GB (250 GB didn't work, so the limit's somewhere in the middle) so don't worry about partitioning the USB drive to match the iDrive's size.

thanks for the replies... my concern is not that im afraid the drive will be too big for idrive to recognize, its that i want to be able to set a size and fill it without paying much attention to total GB used onthe drive... max out at 12GB and not worry about the other 4GB at all... just something to let me be a tiny bit lazier.
