1. You can order from your dealer or online e.g. Morristown, Crown, etc...
2. Here are the part numbers http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...51&fg=35&hl=33
3. It does not provide an extra compartment, infact the part itself sits lower so if you have something that barely fits in there right now and you can still close the lid, it won't fit anymore cause of the few mm difference.

Here are some photos I posted of mine: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=14

I love mine, my elbow always rested right on the corner of the original armrest when I had my hand on the shifter, now it's much more comfortable. Yes you can still use the aux port, the only problem I had was my xm radio plug, because of the few mm that the armrest roof sits lower it doesn't fit in there anymore, so I plugged it into my happy robot modification at the back of the console. I forgot to mention it also comes with a spring to open itself when unclipped at the front, which is a nice touch.

That feature is certainly lacking in the OEM non-split armrest, I hate how you have to turn your body towards the armrest to prop it open

Try Crown Auto, alot of us here (myself included) have had experience with JD over there and it's always 100% positive.

+1.. I bought one late last year and absolutely love it. The added spring mechanism that prevents the whole armrest slamming shot is a wonderful addition.

Got my coral red split armrest for my 335i coupe from Crown within one week of ordering for $242. Has anyone installed-DYI or dealer-one in a coupe? The instructions in the threads are for a sedan which has an easy to remove a/c vent section versus the console in the coupe.

I don't think the black is 100% the same between leatherette and dakota leather. It's up to you though.

I never noticed that! I fitted mine about 6 months ago, following the DIY on here. It's very simple, is much more comfortable - especially for tall drivers who have to slide their seat back - and looks so much less 'utilitarian' than the monoblock version.

How does the sliding forward mechanism work? And is there a version of the split arm rest that doesn't slide forward? I saw one in a 335 in the dealer in Munich and for the life of me couldn't get the left side to slide forward. When I talked to (I think it was JD at Crown) he said that the one he had didn't slide forward. I don't want one of the left side doesn't slide forward. Thoughts?

Thanks. I ordered the alu version a few weeks ago to match the iDrive knob & shifter and also because the M Sport version that came with the car had nasty scratchy stitches underneath that played havoc with my delicate pink skin

I believe they all slide, but you could just leave the driver's side locked in its rear-most position and never move it.

No, I definitely WANT to move it. Thats the whole point of getting it - so I have a right elbow rest.

Anyone put one in a Coupe? Looks like they are fairly simple to install in a sedan, but I've heard the coupes are rather difficult. One dealer wanted like $400 to install it.

It depends

if one can reach all the parts after removing the litlle plastic cover just below the armrest at the rear, then its quick and easy

if one cannot reach all the parts, then the rear console needs to be removed, which means the rear seats need removing ect ect
