What do you guys think about Mini JCW ?

Evening All

Thinking about part-ex my car with this one

http://www.minicherished.co.uk/miniu...sultsOrder=5_0

Is the price about right or if its too much, how much should I be offering ?

Anything specific to check if I go ahead ?

Any common faults to look out ?

I believe few of the members here have JCW's and in all honesty I haven't driven any Mini ever.

What do you guys think about Mini cooper S ? apart from bhp is there anything else different and how tuneable these cars are ?

So Please advice.

I believe the R numbers(R50,52,53,55,56,57) are the codes like E 90/91/92/93 or am I wrong ?

Having had a few minis, including a Cooper S, I love them. The premium for a Works is a lot to pay from new though as the standard S is already quick enough for most and the harder suspension on the Works is a step too far for a lot of people. The price of this one seems ok, but the spec is basic and wrong as printed as I can't see any sat nav in the photo. However, nice colour and wheels. Of course in addition to the harsh ride, you need to be able to live with the small boot and 'occasional' back seats.

There are no real problems to be aware of that I have found, in any case the AUC would sort them out, but be aware of rattles and squeaks on the test drive though and ask the dealer to sort.

I suggest going for a test drive and see what you think of it. The ride is fine as mine does not have the sports plus suspension ( most people have stuck to STD)

They are great fun, the works is more expensive than the s but to add the bodykit, exhaust, steering wheel even before the extra power you are 2k before fitting.

If you can live with a smaller car, fancy a hot hatch and want a car which is fun to drive at any speed you will not be disappointed. Mine now has 2k on the clock and averages 38mpg.

Looks great. Started to learn to like these alot.

Having had a brief look, I would prefer ones with say half leather, xenons, etc.

What you replacing it with?

Thanks,

But isnt JCW a bit quicker than Cooper S ? any other difference ?
Its gonna be a weekend car so doesn't really matter how small it is.

Thanks Gibbo,

I'll surely test drive one and as far as ride is concerned, my 335i is currently on 19" runflat tyres so I believe the ride of the Mini would be much better.

Probably yes but only if I get reasonable part ex value of my 335i otherwise my offer for thier Mini would be offending too.

Can someone please shed some more light on Mini Cooper S and Mini JCW. As far as I know its just about the power difference or is there anything else.

We have a Cooper S as the second car and its fab.
I think it was 2008 (R52) that changed the supercharger to a turbo which made it a little faster and better mpg.

For the difference in price I would probably by the cooper S and remap it. I think the remap takes it to the same bhp 210

This car is at my local dealer and has quite a few extras like LSD. Does the price sound right looking at the list of extras ?
Please advice.

Yeah kind of. What I meant is we have the R56 which is the newer turbo hardtop, instead of the R53 which is the supercharged hardtop.

Newer models are R55 clubman, R56 Normal/hardtop, R57 convertible.

If it helps we paid £12995 14 months ago for lovely condition Cooper S with uprated alloys and a few extras and 40k miles so not too sure if that price is great. Its not that bad though since it has 25k miles and a LSD
We also wangled 1k extra part exchange than the car was worth so class that as a better deal

So the car I am looking at is R53 right ? or is it a R56 ?. Its Sep 2008(58) registered.

whats the built date of your car/ how old was it when you bought ? that might give an idea about the price of this one

Thanks

Ours is a March 2008 reg as well so the one you are looking at should be the r56 turbo. Im sure you can tell if it doesnt have a big whine from the supercharger.

Going to ring the dealership now for a testdrive, so will report in the evening.
