2003 Z4 Steering Question
Hey there,
Thinking about buying a 2003 Z4 2.5. I test drove it the other day and noticed one thing I knew you all would know. The steering felt odd to me, when I hit a small groove in the road or something it feels like the steering wheel is fighting me to move in a direction it wants rather than stay centered, whats the deal here? Also the speakers sounded muffled to me, I know its a little issue but as an audiophile I like perfect sound, anyone else notice this, or are the speakers busted? Last issue, minor paint damage here and there, ease of fixing it or cheap solutions? Thanks, reference 2003 Z4 2.5 55k miles dealer asking 23k USD. TJ |

The tramlining you're feeling goes away when you ditch the run flat tires.

The steering may have a major problem that BMW isn't issuing a recall on. I took my Z4 in recently because i could hardly keep it on line and the told me they had just replaced the steering column in two other Z4's. They replaced my steering column with no questions asked and it was a tremendous improvement. When I drove my car I could barely turn the wheel sometimes out on the highway and when it did turn it would cause me to oversteer, it was a real scary situation and it must be hapening a lot.

inTgr8r ur everywhere. the steering column is known to be a failed electric steering rack. your lucky to get it replaced before anything happened. For other z4 drivers, the steering column just locked up leaving them veering towards mountains and other dangerous objects.

Hey tj798,
If you want a great deal on a Z4 check out mine on autotrader at zip code 29212. I listed it at $28,999 but could go as low as $26,000 firm. It was $47.7 new and has 13,300 miles. Kelley Blue book is $30,000. I have a E93 on order and have a M3 and X3 so I have a few too many BMW's. You would have to fly to South Carolina to get it but its like new. |

I have a 2004 E46 M3 medium gray metallic bought from Hancock which is no longer Hancock. I also have a 2007 X3 3.0si and my 2004 Z4 3.0 and the E93 on order, oh and of course my sons Toyota FJ so I need to move a few vehicles.
