New to the BMW scene

Evening all,

Thought id introduce myself.

Recently traded in my beloved Astra VXR for a 325D M sport in black.

Loving the car so far and can now see why my Dad has been telling me to buy a BMW for years.

Just found out from here that the angel eyes can be retro fitted as unfortunately that was the one thing on my list i didnt get in the end.

I had a Focus ST2 before, I also got the 325d M sport stunning car, does really need a remap. I was shocked how well it handles for a bigger car, very flat lots of power **** in the snow. lol

That's one of the harshest lessons come the first sign of snow.

I picked mine up in the snow and just managed to get it home where it was then stuck for days.

Don't ever try and convince yourself you will manage ok in the snow without snow tyres.

Thank you all for the warm welcome

As requested, pics:

Firstly, the old car:

And the new one:

Have looked into remaps but not sure how the clutch/gearbox and other components will cope with the hike in power. Been quoted 285bhp with just a map though which seems a suspiciously big jump!

Looked at an E92 but one of the reasons for changing was wanting a bit more practicality so the coupe went out of the equation unfortunately.

You'll not get that much but you will get 240+ It's very well worth doing.

Nice base car now get modding Nb I've done the LCI retrofit, it really is dead easy..

Speak to BWchiptune about the map if you can make it to west London, or simon at e-maps if you can make it to the Midlands.

going with a company you can trust is very important with this sort of thing...

Thanks,

Iv had a quick look at the bumper and im not overly sure how it comes off. Will certainly be looking into the LCI for the front shortly.

Are all the headlights the same or are some darker?

Also, can the lights be upgraded for the newer ones on the back?

Thanks,
I guess I haven't seen enough of them to realize they are standard. Maybe they are an option here in the US...

I'd suggest you get the "Darkline" rear lights.

My lights have also been tinted. Usual LCI is equal brightness to what you have now.

Bumper is easy to remove just 5 or 6 bolts - and there's a guide on this forum somewhere

If you want the LCI headlights then member G-10 on here sells them pretty often (keep an eye on the classifieds) and the darkline rears can be bought from Sytner with a 15% discount if you pm member 'Anneka @ Sytner'.

NB. I suggest the darkline lights as a nice upgrade but the LCI lights aren't possible without getting an aftermarket boot-lid as the shape of the inside cluster is different to pre-LCI

Thanks for that

Iv found a set of LCI headlights on ebay with the top lugs repaired. Considering it once im back from my holiday.

Any pics of the "darklines"?

The rear lights i have now are smoked with three strips for the rear sidelights.

Im not fussed about them but really want the angel eyes!

What is the position with re-mapping and insurance? Can you just tell them and they'll increase the premium or do some companies refuse to insure mapped cars?

Always tell the insurance company that the car has a remap, certain companies don't care others add a higher % on your policy.
I did have one car where it had 3 engine modifications that allowed me to get a better policy that a bog standard car policy.

Ring and find out, Others may not declare the remap but its on your own head if it all goes wrong.
