Does retrofit cic nav need fsc activation again?

I have just fitted cic nav into my ccc version e92. The cic that I have bought was previously fitted and used with 2010 maps.

Now I have fitted it into mine, the nav doesn't work. I understand I need to buy fsc activation codes, fsc map codes and fsc voice recognition codes.

If the cic was working in the donor car, isn't the cic already activated? or am I missing something?

My chassis number is different to the cic, but the fsc codes for the donor cic were written for the cic vin.

I would have thought that I just needed to buy fsc map codes?

I don't know either, but I posed the same question to Patrys@bimmertech and he said you have to get the FSC codes again for the next vehicle. I would've thought that if it was activated once already it should be ok, but apparently not.
There's an aftermarket hardware solution to get activation (cheaper than getting activation codes) but may not be as safe/reliable. Not enough feedback/reviews on the hardware solution yet

Can you post a link to the HW solution?

is one such solution. Personally i'd get it activated with the FSC codes from BMW, not sure how to go about it though...

Two vendors on the forum offer the hardware solution: "Patrys@bimmertech" and "bmwretrofit"

The former is based in Poland and the latter is in Canada. Go check out their vendor listings
