Aluminum Barite Silver
Has anyone seen the barite trim before? I did a search and couldn't find anything. I get the impression that it's more expensive than the other trims. |

That's BMW Individual territory
Don't waste your time looking at it... you'll only love it more and more and be heartbroken to find out we can't get it in the states.

How do you get the individual? I've seen it on the bmwusa site but what exactly is the purpose if we can't purchase it from them?

individual is only available on the 7er in the states... much to the dismay of enthusiasts.

Yes, definitely a LOT more expensive considering it's an Individual option. I think someone had quoted around 2-3k?

Like esquire said, BMW Individual is only available on the 7 series in the U.S. Hopefully that'll change with time; as it allows a much more "custom" vehicle... but that customization comes with a hefty price-tag.

The barite reminded me of the Spyker C8.
I was thinking about 2,000. Which I don't think is too bad considering the standard is probably $600-1,000. I'll probably do something else with my trim at some point, but it's too bad there aren't any photos of it floating around. |

To even order Individual trim/parts, you need the VIN for a BMW Individual vehicle.

You say its only available on the 3 series in the U.S. So then you fix it with BMW later on once you get your vin #? or what? I dont understand the whole concept of this. They should introduce on the 3 series sometime soon... to them if they do.

Yes. BMW is hesitant/reluctant to bring the Individual program to the US due to a law that lets the buyer back out of the deal at any time. Which leaves the dealer with a most likely difficult-to-sell color combination not to mention the substantial cost to obtain said spec.

In Europe you can get a 3er Individual. The whole idea behind BMW Individual is to provide the customer with a highly personalized vehicle. As close to a "custom" car you can get while still driving a BMW. This year they introduced the program to the U.S., but only in the 7 -- I assume because those customers are less likely to: a. flake out on the purchase b. quibble about the additional cost Depending on how the program fairs over the next year or two will likely determine if the rest of the line recieves the same treatment over here. My comment on the VIN is that you (a U.S. customer without a Individual spec car from the factory) cannot go to your dealer (or any dealer) and order parts that are Individual specific. To even order the parts you must provide proof of ownership for a BMW Individual car -- and since the 3er Individual is not available in the U.S., you're SOL. ding ding ding... exactly.

I think it looks good. I still wish they offered CF or what they called black cube in the e46.
