Headunit help

I have just fitted a Kenwoord headunit today, however, it keeps loosing its memory and returning to factory settings after the car has been parked 10 mins or so.

I have tried swapping over the red and yellow wires, and this made it loose memory immediately when ignition was switched off.

Which wire is permanent live???

I believe you need to run a wire from ignition or similar. The car is designed to have a head unit that stores settings to the most optical network rather than just be standalone. Therefore when the comfort circuit shuts down after 15mins you will lose all settings.

I believe there's an adapter you can buy that deals with this. Andy at Car audio security sorted it out for me in mine.

You need to run a power lead from the battery to the 12v constant.
There is a place in the footwell somewhere but don't know where, but battery is best.

Everything else in the car goes to sleep after 15 minutes so that is your only choice.

Car audio security supplied it (Well Andy from there).

Single din fascia adapter.

The important thing was I wanted it to be central rather than off set. Made it harder to find..

um.. doesn't look very central to me central to the car i am guessing you mean? as it's quite clearly over to the left a bit in the dash

it really does look good, it's a strong contender for not having iDrive imo

might impact residuals tho, you know.. being modified

cool!
