It finially happened......

It has been almost 6 months since I bought my E90 330i and with all new cars (well for me at least) you fear almost every time you park it someone will scratch/mark your baby. Well it happened, I left my car in my underground parking and my parking spot neighbor hit me, in 3 different areas of body panels......

I took all the pictures I needed of her car and mine. I even took pics of a tape measure from the ground up to show how every mark on her car lines up with the marks on my car. I left her a note and tomorrow I will file a police report. If she is smart she will call me and clear this up using her insurance and cover my $500 deductible. If she is stupid she won't call and the police will be knocking on her door. So asides from just venting I guess I am asking is there anything more I can do?

Update:
My neighbor called me and admitted guilt. She tried to back out of her tandem parking spot with someone behind her and my car next to her. Imagine a 2x2 grid with walls on all 3 sides. She couldn't find the keys for the car behind her and tried to squeeze by. Obviously she failed miserably. I told her I wanted to go through insurance and she agreed after I told her the quote I got from 427 Auto Body of $2300. That included a complete rear bumper repair and respray, entire driverside door respray and back quarter panel metal refinishing and repair (side view mirror got me, didn't include a pic). The place looked really legit and had plenty of high end cars to ez my concerns with quality of work! Also my insurance covers rentals.

So far so good!

Ouch...I feel for you bro.

Ask your building security if they have anything on tape.

Hope things work out for you.

Wow .. I hate other people.

Consider how many car enthusiasts there are versus normal drivers who don't care about their vehicles. It's a minefield out there

Hope you get it sorted. Go to the most expensive body shop you can find, on her insurance.

Sorry to hear man.

Take a look at the bright side - which is at least you know who did it. Lots of parking lot "accidents" are hit-and-runs.

There are so many people out there who just don't care about other people's properties. Like leaving shopping carts roam freely in a parking lot, not caring about other people's cars when they open the door, hitting other people's cars while parking thinking it's "just a scratch" and they won't care, etc. It's terrible!

Maybe she tried contacting you and you weren't around? Anyhow, think positive, try and talk to her.

Like others said, you are lucky to at least know who hit you, I had a person scratch my passenger side door in a parking lot and just left...worst thing to see after work

good luck....but all your scratches looks like they can buffed out w/o the need for paint. It looks to be all surface.

parking lot cases are the worst....there's a huge chance that even if you contact polive/insurance, at the end of the day - both parties are responsible for their own damage/insurance claim. Unless you have like actual witnesses/video

Very true. Without An eyewitness there is no case.
Same thing happened to my friend and initially he got the neighbour to admit she hit his car, they went to the station to report it, i guess someone advised her and she denied doing it. Long story short police didnt do anything and my friend got stuck fitting the bill....

I hope this works out for you, but im sure someone saw something

Speaking from experience the collision center may report as "unreported incident" what you can do is take the officer name card in case the insurance needs it, your insurance may pay it as no fault claim if the damage is small. Check out with Assured Body shop they did an excellent job for my car.

It's good that this got resolved...though she keeps making dumb decisions....why does she not pay the shop of your choice to fix the damages instead of going through her insurance...she will end up paying much more now on her insurance per year.

I have gone through this twice with people that have hit my car. Once with a doctor that reversed into my RSX at night at a red light...he claimed he did not see my car because it was at night, and my car was black lol. Will never forget that. But he paid without question for my shop to fix everything...its the better resolve for the person being hit if you don't want them to suffer down the road.

Even if she has to take a loan out for 3 grand, its cheaper in the long run.

Agreed.

Also, best BMW repair shop is European Auto. If you are going through insurance, and there are free rentals. You definitely should get your car fixed there. It's the only shop in town that uses the same paint as BMW factory paint.

Give Excellence Auto Collision a call. They along with Budds and European are the only 3 authorized BMW bodyshops in the GTA. They repair cars for T&C, Parkview and Downtown BMW.
