Windshield chipped...in a bad spot, need some advice.

I'm driving home today in my soon-to-be sold, traded, or carmaxed 2004 530i (my 335i just got into port hueneme today) and a small rock hits my windshield just below eye level on the windshield creating a nice notch in it. I wouldn't mind it so much and would still just get rid of it, but the chip is in a baaaaad location. Now, my question is, should i have it repaired by a dealer or local shop or just leave it for the next buyer to deal with? If i were buying a car and it had that chip in that spot, i'd want either want it fixed or have the price lowered. Thanks guys. I live in San Diego in case anyone knows a good windshield repair shop near there.

You can buy a kit that helps patched it up and prevent further damage, that is what I would do.

I would get the damage fixed. If it is a chip as you say it is, having it repaired may make it less noticeable in addition to preventing it from becoming a larger crack. I just had my windshield fixed last weekend by a windshield repair company. I had just under 1cm sized circular damage from a large rock that came from a large truck in front of me while driving on I-5. I also had smaller chips. The repair person came to my home and filled the cracks and chips. The job took no more than 30 minutes to treat the 3 total damages. It cost me $75 to get them fixed. (Unfortunately, my insurance company didn't cover for windshield chip damage, but most companies will pay for it). After the treatment they were barely noticeable. You could see some tiny lines from the larger crack, but it wasn't as obvious. I'm really happy with the results!
