Are there any plans for the 328?

Seeing as how BMW has the 335i sedan and coupe are there any plans for updating the 328 in any way - say giving it 330i engine perhaps?

just curious....

thanks

Which would essentially make it the 330...which they replaced with the 335.

Typically BMW starts a new body style with the same engines as the previous body style ended with. In this case 330 and 325. Then at some time in the production they move up to the next set... 328 and 335. My guess is that these engines (or their equivilant) will stay until the middle of the next body style. This is my third 3 series BMW and that is how it has seemed to work for each set...
318 and 325 e36
323 and 328 e36
323 and 328 e46
325 and 330 e46
325 and 330 e90
328 and 335 e90

Oh and it seems that the new engines in the newer body style is about the same horse power as the M version of the previous body style.

328 already has a 3.0 engine, although I am not sure if it is a 'detuned' version like they did with the 325. Displacement is already there, so I'm just waiting for some bolt-on performance kits to make things interesting.

I thought I was the only one that noticed that.

The engine in the E90 330i, 325i and now the 328i is the same 3.0ltr engine with different levels of tuning.

keep in mind, though, that the E46 325 and 330 were different engines than the E90.

Kinda interesting how between 2005-2007 BMW changed the engine twice in their 3 series.

BMW has a plan... in about 3 years you will trade in your 328 for a 335.
