Yes, you have the vehicle recovery as part of the standard for four years BMW Safety Assist. It looks like you have an '07 335, so this feature comes included at no cost for the duration of the warranty. You need to activate it though by pressing the SOS button. - SR |

Please let us know what they say. I haven't called my insurance agent about this, but there is a long thread on e90post discussing this very topic (which I only glanced at).....a number of people are claiming they couldn't get a discount for various reasons, including:
- BMW assist system is a known feature of the car, and can be disabled easily (disconnect battery), unlike a LoJack-type tracking system, and therefore some insurance companies might not give a comparable discount, if at all. - some insurance companies require certain other items before giving a discount for this. i.e., discounts come in "levels", and the level this exists in may also require an alarm (or even the level below). So without an alarm, you might not be able to get this discount. Again, I have not attempted to get this discount myself, and have only read some quick posts on the subject. Pls let us know what you find out, and which insurance company it applies to. thanks.

will do.I still think it sucks that a 49,000.00 car is not equipped with an alarm. It should come standard with a very good alarm system. And also, you shouldnt have to demand floormats. My only two things that makes me mad about with bmw.other than that, best cars in the world!

Andrew - are you referring to the feature or the insurance discount? . I agree who wants the car back, but given the low probability of theft, I would prefer to have it AND get the insurance discount (if you can actually get that)..
fotios - agreed that it is a bit crazy that not only no alarm, but to get one, you have to hire someone who has to rip into your car. I want these things from the factory, like many other cars I have had. as to other things: how about 6 disc CD changer being a dealer installed option only, for like 9 zillion dollars? |

eventhough my car is "prewired" for the alarm it does not have the actual BMW alarm.
My insurance agent asked if it had an alarm. I replied yes it does. "The horn honks when you open the door or the dome light turns on with out unlocking the car." Viola! I recieved a discount for the "alam". No the clown light still does not blink....Might try switching to a different insurance company. I use USAA |
