Dont you just love opinionated people...

I was having a nice time at a BBQ at a friends house tonight when one of his old euro buddy's (my friend is from Slovakia and used to room with this guy apparently) chimes in with this nugget when I was describing the ED process..."Why would you buy a 3 series"...I say "why not"..."because for somebody your age your need a bigger car...you would look like a dork..your like 40". Ummm..dipshit..I JUST turned 34 this month, and why does that even matter. I have never met this guy mind you. So what should piss me off more..the DORK comment or the 40 YEAR OLD comment . It was just plain awkward because It was at a friends house and I wanted to go tell him to f..k himself but his kids were standing right there. I think he assumed I had a family or something..I have no clue why since I never said I did. Now I am fairly used to the whole eastern european bluntness because i've known my buddy from Slovakia for 6 years now but this guy was a full fledged penis. What's worse, this guy was wearing the nice white socks with flip flops combo so whose the Dork Kinda sucks having your parade rained on. Not alot of BMW content but thought i'd vent.

Peace

Everyone has opinions. Opinions are not facts. Many people, including those that you consider friends and those on EVERY forum, will have opinions that are different than yours. Its just the way it is. Not everyone needs to be knowlegeable about a subject to express their opinion. BTW, this is just my opinion on opinions.

His comments weren't just "blunt", they were rude and in bad taste. I'm sure it's just jealousy. As for the age thing, I'm 28 and people say I look 35 all the time. I understand your frustration in that matter.

hmmm....I'm 44 and just got my first BMW/3er last July. I don't feel the least bit too old for a 3er. As a matter of fact, just two hours ago as I was driving my 2000 328i, I thought to myself, I will own BMW 3ers for the rest of my life. One reason, of many, I love the 3er is the straight six. It's design is the most naturally balanced engine design of any! And nothing else pulls like a straight six!

I don't want any car bigger than the 3er! Anything bigger is too big for me!

And I can't wait to do ED when I buy an E90! I'm gonna do PCD along with my ED!

So, I think we all know who the real dork is here.

Just let it go in one ear and out the other. You know that the guy is a jerk off so who cares? He probably drives a Fiat Punto or something... God, I hate when people say whatever pops into their retarded little heads and they think they can get away with it because they are "european."

one of the VPs at work drives an E92 335i, and everytime when this one particular co-worker of mine and I go out for lunch, she would always comment on how much she loves the coupe style more than my E90, and how the E92 is much more sleeker than the sedan, she even said, "you don't even have kids yet, why are you driving a sedan"
I just laugh it off, but in my head, I'm giving her the one finger salute

As long as you're happy, end of story. We were over at a family friend's place and the guy loves Mercedes... some of us started talking about BMWs (1 week before my delivery, no one knew I was getting it yet) and this guy started putting down BMW, said it was a "girly car" and too feminine in the body style and that "only women drive it... and minorities" LOL The rest of us kinda looked at each other with a "this Mercedes lover has no clue how good a BMW is" look So the guy said the higher the series get, the less feminine it looks, but they're still all girly. I asked, "what about the ///M3 and ///Ms in general?" - his reply: "they're better, but still girly" - at that point I decided to move on to better topics.

He asked me "you seem a little disappointed by what I'm saying, did you just buy a 3?" I go "nope" - technically didn't buy it yet, delivery was the week after... he eventually saw it and never said a word about the topic again.

Don't sweat it. There are all kinds of folks in this world. He just happens to be a genuine knucklehead. Probably has been his entire life and will be until he croaks. Not your fault. I would generally pity the fool.

Thanks. Besides, I don't buy cars based on status. I buy the best car for my budget. The 335 wins hands down

Sounds like the same guy haha. Funny you mention the girly car. He threw that in too which I completely forgot. I was kinda tuning him out at that point.

Not much..just the fact that I was 34 and what did that have to do with anything. Didn't want to waste my breath. I was just kinda shocked someone older, and supposedly more mature, would be spouting nonsense.

I find the girly thing kinda weird. I wouldn't necessarily say I find Mercedes girly, but I do think they have way too much "froo froo". BMW's, the 3er in particular, are much more focused on the driving experience.

What an a-hole! Just because you are over 40 doesn't mean you can't appreciate the handling and performance capabilities of the 3er.

i feel like such a dork
