DTC on, but "!" on, is this normal?
just double checking with fellow members. When I push the DTC button, the DTC lights up on the dash but "!" also lights up? When the DTC button is pressed again to OFF, the "!" also goes away. Is this normal?

anytime both DTC and DSC aren't on, the car will give you that warning.

actually no. it happens like i said anytime either is off. so you'll get the /!\ if you press the DTC button briefly which turns off DSC and leaves on DTC, and also if you press and hold the DTC button for several seconds thus disabling both DTC and DSC.

For your information, DTC is on, DSC is 'restricted' when you press the DTC button momentarily and everything is off when you press and hold. |

my average miles per gallon for the las 1k miles is 15, i was going to take a picture and see if anyone could beat it, but i realized you could just reset it and roll for 50 feet in first gear and get lower than 15

...because you're not turning anything ON, you're turning part or all of the traction control OFF. That's why the icon is displayed, because you're turning OFF either part or all of your traction control depending on how long you hold down the button. I don't understand why people get this confused...

Here's some more info to muddy the waters even more.
On page 59 of the first quarter of 2007 BMW Magazine it states."Also, a quick jab on the Dynamic Stability (DSC) button before starting the climb activates Dynamic Traction Control (DTC)." So much confusion over a single button. To me this means (DSC) is on all the time and a single quick push activates (DTC) and if you hold the button down it turns both off. Call me stupid but I don't know. |

Its 2 seperate sets of software
the one allowing more wheelspin ect than the other at low speed ( at higher speed the laws are the same as DSC ) The DSC software is functional when you start the car If you press the DTC it activates the DTC software When you hold the button in it deactivates both
