Yay, brought my new AW e90 home today!
Ok, first up, the pics because I know you dont believe it if you dont see it. Im only posting a couple because you have all seen this car to death already.
I started getting skeptical on my choice of white but seeing it in person I love it. It makes the lines really smooth on the car. However, this color seems like a magnet for insects to aim for the front end. So driving it home I noticed a couple things. I dont necessarily like the shifter. Its very light and feels like Im moving a plastic rod into place. Theres not much definition in terms of the gate and which gear Im in. Things Ive learned so far: On a hill or incline at a light, the brakes will hold without touching the pedal while I stay on the clutch...very cool. You need to have the light switch to the left for the adaptive lights to work. Theres NO space to hold anything. The glovebox is a joke. The side pockets are angled so funny that its hard to slip things in. The center armrest area is the only place to store things. I like how my mp3 player started working right away but you need to keep the volume up on the unit. Keeping it down and using the radio knob to turn it up will only make it LOUD when switching back to radio. I dont know how I did it but all my electronics got reset. My seat refuses to go into position when I unlock the car. My radio settings(treble, bass) keep going back to 0, and my mirrors turned all the way in...weird. I thought I set my lights to go on when I lock and unlock the car. Doesnt happen. I tried both from the keyfob and the door, nothing. This car has so much torque, I took a couple slow turns in 4th gear thinking I was in second. Love the passing power, Im almost afraid of what this car has got. Really twice as much as my Audi. Im debating whether I really need the PROcede or not.(Already ordered though so I must sacrifice) Oh, I also already DIY the rear foglights. Took all of 20 mins it was so easy. Im having a bitch of a time DIY the fuse box V1 install. How the hell did you guys get back there? Plus, my V1 was connected to the wire GOING to the fuse, not the fuse itself. How the hell do I get behind the fuse box?

Congrats - white looks great, and the bugs seem to love all our cars
I agree, side-pockets are good for thin things... I once slipped my camera and shades case in there and it was almost like a puzzle trying to get them back out and almost impossible to do while driving. Electronics reset: are you sure you didn't go back out to your car with the 2nd key fob? The settings you make are stored to the current fob. Using the 2nd one will only have the settings that were there when last used in the vehicle (so you and your wife can have diff. settings with a fob, for example). PROcede: LOL keep the order, you'll want the extra umph later I actually know exactly what you mean though, sometimes I think I shouldn't allow myself to consider anymore power than this. Fuse box: behind the glove box, it's a little tight, you might want to take things apart to get back there (I think I got the glove box out when I hardwired my Passport, but don't recall at the moment... ).

Nice car, congratulations. I got my car last week, but couldn't find time to hardwire my V1. Did you get the concealed display? I'm thinking of installing it in the sunglass holder, but first I have to hardwire the main unit. Today I installed the M short shift and the M e-brake handle, feels and looks better.
Enjoy your car, I hope it's a nice sunny weekend in NJ. |

I started doing the hardwire V1 but then when I saw that the fusebox was almost impossible to reach I had to start searching for other methods. On my Audi, I was able to remove the fusebox in 2 seconds and tap the wire that went to the lighter fuse. I think Ill try tapping the wires behind the headlight switch for a power source. I do have the concealed display and was going to put it in the ashtray but space is so minimal that I might find somewhere else to put it.

Congrats on the new car.
the brake holds for about three seconds, then will release when on a downhill. Don't rely on it to hold forever.... you'll end up kissing the car in back of you. Get the short shifter (OEM) - it makes teh shifting much better. The gearbox will break-in after about 1000 miles... have fun!

Yup, realized this when parking my car in front of my garage tonight. Still, 3 seconds is enough to get back on the gas again.

I got the sunglass holder to replace the ashtray for that reason. The bottom of the sunglass tray is already angled, so I think all I need to do is to drill a hole for the cable, and use a piece of velcro or a double-sided tape to keep the display in there.

Not sure about your settings issue... maybe try the other fob and see if things get stored properly on that one.

I believe there's an auxiliary volume control if you use the plug in the armrest.

Correct. Changes the aux in volume independent of the main volume control knob. Though I haven't actually used it. (MP3 CDs 4tw)
