oil temperture on the track?

my oil gauge shows little pass the middle mark(i think middle is 210?) around 220ish to 225ish, after how laps. it will creep up just a little over middle mark but doesnt go over any higher then that. is this normal for this engine? I used to drive civics and audis on the track and I dont think it went up that high, it used to just stay right on the middle mark.

but after couple of cooldown laps, needle drops below the middle mark again.
it will creep up just a little over middle mark but doesnt go over any higher then that.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that. It also depends on the outside temperature.
Last weekend at Mosport My needle went just past the middle and I don't think it was as hot as other times after a 30 minute track session in the very hot summer days.

+1

Mine runs a little bit past the middle mark as well. Temps were in the 70s. Seems normal to me if you're heavy on the throttle a lot as we are on the track.

Are you sure you're not confusing water temp gauge on the other marques with oil temp on the MZ4? 'Cause the water temp gauge on most cars are designed to move to the middle mark and stay there and NOT MOVE until the engine is ready to grenade itself.

And if you're worrying about 210 degrees oil temp, just wait until you drive one of the newer BMWs like the new 3 series on track. 290+ degrees is considered normal.

Yeah ever since the second time I tracked the Z4M, my temp gauge has never been below the middle-mark (210* F). It's always slightly higher temps, and that's even without ANY catalytic converters; which should theoretically drop a lot of heat to begin with...
