Q about 3D TV? Why have a screen + glasses instead of just glasses?

I'm a bit skeptical about 3D TV in general. I think it'll be mostly useful for video games, and big spectacl emovies, but not much else.

That said, most 3D TV's take rather expensive blinking glasses....usually between $40-140

My question is, if you ALREADY have to have expensive glasses, why not just save a ton of money on the big screen and put the screen right into the glasses? Wouldn't this be a far cheaper and better solution? You'd get full brightness, zero flicker and artifacts, and a movie-theatre-size perceived screen size. Wouldn't a little 1.75"-2" 1080P screen in front of each eye be AMAZING?

So, you'd just keep your old TV for general use, and then get 2 to 4 pair of these at, say $200- $350/each for special movie time. You probably don't get more than that many sets of glasses anyway, right?

Throw a head tracker on and you could also have a VERY immersive, VR-style 3D video game.

I've seen headsets like this in the past, but very poorly executed and not intended for 3D Blu Ray sources.

Your eyes will have 0 focus after you take off your glasses. 3D requires depth to work better.

tl, dr

However we have a 55" samsung 3d led and it sucks and is awesome at the same time. Anything with a green screen and isnt a 3d tv looks like shit. I think it has something to do with the refresh rate. However the picture is amazing on 3d and anything thats mostly animation/cgi.

Just pointing out the difference between a story and a question.

Wireless N would probably be the best way to get the movie to the glasses. Just broadcast it to any glasses paired to the router. 720P over Netflix looks fine, so this shouldn't be an issue.
