Just beat the 3 disc game... amazing story line w/ a entirely unusual game structure. Its nothing like I have ever played.

Anyone else pick up the game recently?

it started off strong then got exponentially worse. some of the mechanics were awkward and frustrating, i hated playing as cole and there were a number of random, abrupt occurrences in the story that ruined it for me

I've been following it for a while..

How are the fighting/shooting mechanics? Because i HATE HATE HATE how they are in GTA 4. Great driving and stuff. Hate the shooting missions. Sloppy lock on and target changing controls, weird physics and clipping, pissed the hell out of me. Is LAN like that (since it's made by rockstar..)

I just picked up new vegas and played a hearty 4-5 hrs for the first time since november

bioshock 2 and black ops next on the list

but LA noire has me interested. Wanted to actually post a thread asking how people felt about it. Anyone here play the original max payne games? (one of my all-time fav) How does it compare?

i'm a huge fan of the max payne series. gameplay wise there are no similarities. max payne is also a far better noire story

Really Theme?? See, I thought the other way around... the first part dragged along untill you got mid homicide. The arson desk was by far the best.

If youre looking for a shoot em up type of game/a game w/ free murderous roaming, this isnt for you.

I thought the storyline made the game.

that's definitely not what i was expecting or looking for. the story started off really well; it was engaging and the gameplay mechanics were really neat. unfortunately the novelty of the face-work wore off and so did the plot. i legitimately hated playing as cole. the homicide cases sort of dragged on and the ending was so... "what? really?". the arson cases were ok, i guess. i can't really post what i hated story-wise as they're pretty much all spoilers. yeah, i enjoyed it, but it got old pretty fast and the overall storytelling wasn't what it could have been

the aiming was really awkward for a number of reasons, the lack of dedicated save stations sucked (if you're trying to complete street cases for example), small details like the excessively loud footsteps got to me, etc. it really is a gorgeous game though. the new face-scan technology they implemented is incredible and the accuracy with which they re-created 1940's los angeles is amazing. the city looked particularly good at night in the rain (go figure, it's a noire) and the driving mechanics were great. i probably won't go back and replay it, but it's definitely something to experience
