New member interested in a 335 w/ a couple ?'s

I'm planning to trade in my 09 G37 this summer, I'm thinking around the 4th of July time frame. Been a good car to me no problems at all but I'm just tired of it haha. Anyways at the top of my list are the 335 not sure yet if a coupe or sedan and the Audi S4. Anyways right now I'm leaning more towards the 335 just looks like overall a better car from my own personal opinion.

My questions lie in the whole ordering process. I've been configuring cars on the BMW website and most of the ones I've made were around the $62-65,000 range and the 335is coupe I made was a tad over $70,000. No experience at all in having a new car made specifically the way you want it, usually our family just gets whatever works out best on the dealership lot. Now since the car is being made to order does that leave you the buyer with little to no room to negotiate the price I'm being showed on the BMW website? If they do work with you on pricing around how much can I reasonably expect to get off the price being shown? Also when a deal is made and I give them the keys to my G37 and the write up to order to be produced am I just stuck without a car for that time frame or does dealers provide you with a loaner type vehicle? Thanks for the time and I'd really appreciate any help, I hope to be a fellow owner soon!

Down here in the SF Bay area, I ordered mine and was able to get the Costco price of $500 over invoice. You can get the invoice prices at Edmunds.com

Can 335is's go up to 70,000?! Don't quote me, but i'm pretty sure they don't. Also, if you have an AMEX card, check into their 'ZAG program'

Are you adding every option in the book? For 70K you might as well get the M3.

$70k on a 3 is a waste. Get a Porsche. Even a base C2 is better than a 335is.

... And no, custom-ordering doesn't mean you can't negotiate. I got mine $250 over invoice. My dealer also let me drive the trade-in for all the time during paperwork processing (three weeks). It all depends on your dealership and who you're dealing with. If it's someone high up, they'll do whatever they want for you.

Or for $70K you can get a barely used GT-R!

Thank for the replies guy! The 335is I have configured at the moment is about $69,000 MSRP from the BMW website. It does have almost every option added. I know I could get the M3 but most likely not equipped with the little things I want and this is going to be my daily driver so it would help to have a somewhat better fuel efficient car.

Here the link to the 335is I plan to order. What's the most reasonable deal I could get on it with everything I want?

Go to a 3rd party site like Vehix.com and price out all the same options, and it'll tell you what the Invoice price should likely be. Then go to dealer and tell him what you're willing to pay him over invoice. Anything up to $1000 over and you're doing alright. With all those options I'm going to guess your Invoice will be around $63K. Go for it.

In response to your original question- yes, you can negotiate prices on built-to-order cars, just as you would for a car on the lot.

There is the same amount of room to negotiate, unless of course, it is a very new model in the market, or is in high demand (such as 1M).

Dealers are not obligated to provide you with a loaner while your new car is in transit, but some really good dealers do provide loaners, if you are stuck without a car.

I love my 335i, which I got custom and fully loaded for $52k....not sure why the IS is running so much more these days. For that price range, there would be several other cars I would consider before buying that 335is. Find out the invoice, and offer the dealer $500 over. If they say no, walk out, and wait for their phone call in 15 min.

Unbelievable! $70k is crazy. That just means the F30 is going to be getting closer and closer to that range. The 3 series is being priced out of the market!

There are so many other cars I would get for 70K. I have a 335i, and it's great, but not 70k great. I would be looking at Porsche in that price range.

I know it is pricey guys but it's does have ALL the options I would like and I doubt I'd be able to price a M3/Porsche with options I'd like without going over $75,000 MSRP. If I can get this 335is anywhere from $60,000-64,000 I'd be more then happy. But thanks for the opinions I'm more then happy hear them.
