Led drl?

This is my first post. I have been stalking the site for a while now. My car is a 08 335i. I have seen some people with led drl to get rid of the yellow look. Does anyone have any idea where I can purchase them? So far I have a jb4 and the BMW white angle eyes if I could find the led driving lights I could leave her alone for a little while.

Take a look into the MTEC angel eyes or the LUX angel eyes; both of those are stellar products.

Thanks for the information guys, I have a angle eye upgrade but I am looking to do something with the driving lights (the ones you flash to pass someone). My car has HID's but the drl is a regular bulb and is a very ugly yellow color. I came across a post one day with someone who had used a led bulb in that socket and it looked much better. Sorry if this is a re post but I have searched all over and cant find the post again nor anything that talks about a bulb like that.

Hmm...do you mean the cornering beams? You don't flash those when you pass someone--the only come on in the reverse gear, when you've got the blinkers on, or you turn the wheel past a certain angle in either direction.

Perhaps you mean the fog lights? Those can be upgraded to HID. You know what, I have an idea. Take a picture of your car from the front, and circle the lights you're looking into replacing.

+1 I'm confused on what bulb he means as well. What Flashes when you "Flash t Pass" are the High Beams.

Well then he needs some color matched H7 bulbs. But he said his car has HIDs...so I'm quite confused.

What's so confusing?...the op is talking about the inner bulbs. The ones with the h7 halogen bulb in it....it's used as a DRL light on pre-lcis.

Op said he already has upgraded angel eye bulbs. Hids refer to the outer bulbs in the projectors.

Op, you need to get an H7 bulb with a different color temperature. 4300k is stock temp for the xenon (hid) bulbs in the projectors. If you have aftermarket, match to that color.

Right! I forgot about that, makes muchmuchmuch more sense now. I was thinking that he had an LCI, and that his cornering bulbs were his daytime running lights, and I was just thinking ...but that's right, the inside lights are DRLs on pre-LCI. Then yes, just go with some MTEC color matched bulbs.

Alternatively, if you want the 6000K LED look, then grab a HID conversion kit; or, you can get these bulbs http://www.dealextreme.com/p/h7-5w-1...car-pair-51062 and code out bulb-check for the DRLs. But you are probably going to be dissapointed with the brightness level.

Jumping in on this conversation.

I have searched everywhere on DYI guide for replacing DRL does anyone have one they can pass along. From what I learned from installing the AA LED is that the DRL are a pain in the ass, in a super tight spot that nothing fits. You need to be a ferry in order to fit anything into that slot to remove or add anything.

I installed the MTEC V3 and they look bad ass, expensive but bad ass. I will post pics soon.

I haven't had much time to check on this but thanks for all the advice. Thank you ********* for clearing all that up for me. You are spot on with what I was trying to say. I will look into bulbs with the K you talked about to try and match it. I am just hoping that replacing that bulb is not as bad as the angle eye bulb.

rollinstone157, Will you inform me of what code out bulb check means. I am new to BMW's and some of this stuff with codes is a little confusing to me. Sorry for all the questions but I always search before I ask a question, it seems as if people get very upset when you don't. I have been stalking this site for 5 months before I ever asked a question.

I tried to get my bulbs out, but it was impossible for me. You need tiny hands and arms to get them out. I gave up and will be getting the drl coded out. Good luck

No problem! The BMW carputer checks various components in the car when you turn it on. Pressures, temperatures, and (more relevant to what we are talking about) bulbs. The car is basically checking to see if any of the bulbs in the car are burnt out (and yes, it checks all of them). The problem with replacing halogen bulbs with LEDs (such as reverse lights, or interior kits) or HID kits (such as fog lights or aftermarket headlights) is the fact that they don't draw a current that the car is expecting. LEDs draw a very low current, and when you don't get a CANBUS LED or a CANBUS HID kit, then when the car does a "bulb check" (i.e. it fluctuates the voltage slightly to the bulbs) you get the annoying flickering, and the warning on the dashboard. I can't confirm this, but I'm pretty sure that if the car thinks the bulb is out, it cuts electricity to that socket. So, you basically code the car to continue doing bulb checks EXCEPT on the ones you rule out (i.e. you do a HID fog kit and an interior LED kit, you just tell bulb check to skip over those). Really, I'm making it sound way more complicated than it is.

Well update on DRL I just got H7 Super White MTech bulbs and hopefully will be installed this week. As soon as the BEAMER ferry appears and helps out. LoL in any case I will post pics and a DYI.

See on my E90 I can just turn off the DRL through the IDrive which I did...
