brand new diesel car vibrating when reach over 60mph, does any1 know why ?
I have the car for 2 wks. it has been vibrating whenever i go over 60mph since i bought it brand new. Not just the steering wheel, i can feel the vibration on the seat like having a seat massage and i also feel vibration on a the gas pedal. does any 1 know why?
thanks Follow Up: I took the car to the dealer to get it check out; they balanced the car and also some recalls were done on the car. After all of that, free massage is going on. Does anyone know what other reason that cause this vibration? (my 2011 328i loaner that has 10k miles is 100x smoother then my brand new car:-( Last edited by cuoinon; 05-18-2011 at 08:17 PM.. |

Sounds like a wheel is out of balance, maybe a wheel weight came off. If its brand new bring it to the dealer and show them they will fix it.

Agreed, this is most likely the cause. For me it also happens if snow gets into the wheels unevenly.

Tire balance, alignment, and if all else fails check the differential. The diff would be unlikely on a new car though...

Years ago, my brother had an e30 325is, with a vibration problem. It was balanced and balanced again and the problem didn't go away. It turns out that the tires, or at very least a tire was out of round.
If balancing doesn't fix it and there is no slop if you jack it up and try to wiggle the wheels check the tires more carefully. |
