Interior led lighting in doors and rear panels.

Today i was reinstalling the interior side panels in the back of my E92. I plugged in the electrical plugs and cause of beeing a litlle clumsy the panel slipped out of my hand and dropped. I then noticed 1 electrical plug dangling . Seems there are LED strips or something like that in the rear side panels and in the front doors. I checked in the front and in the back and my car is equiped with them. Now when should these lights turn on?? I never seen them on , never even knew they were there. Does the car need to be equipped with some sort of light package to have these led strips functional? I ordered a new one and will be reinstalling on monday , but i would like to know how to get these functional.

In the picture its number 3 and number 5 are the holders that hold the strips.

Hmm, mine turn on all the time except when I'm running my DRL's only.
