Front Windshield Tint Suntek vs 3m

I live in sunny south FL and I have a black on black 335i so it gets pretty hot. I have 18% tint all around the car.

Next week Im getting my windshield tinted. How dark should I go? Im debating between 30% and 50% right now. My main concern is blocking heat but I would like the aesthetic look of a slightly darker front windshield, to match my darker window tints. Obviously I know its dangerous to go too dark.

If anyone can chime in I'd be grateful. Just wanted to get some of your opinions. Im leaning towards 50% at the moment. It'll be a non-metal film Suntek or 3M not sure which one to pick yet. Anyone know the major differences between the two?

Personally I would go with 50% on the windshield. I feel like 30% is too dark for windshield tint at night.

I have 60 on the windshield and 32 on all the other. Perfectly fine on 120 degree days in AZ.

If you give a crap about heat reduction, you need to go ceramic.

I have Suntek CXP all around and it looks cloudy as hell. It constantly looks like it has a haze that needs cleaning off.

If you actually care about heat you get ceramic, not carbon.

Im pretty happy with it. 50% ceramic SunTek on the windshield. Love the way it looks and it seems to be blocking the sun and heat pretty well. Havent driven it at night yet but it doesnt seem dark during the day.

You guys are lucky it's legal to tint your entire windshield in your states...not so here in TX, unless they changed the laws recently.

I agree 50% on the front has no distinguishable difference at night than the stock windshield. I wouldn't go any lower than 50%. 50% is PERFECT!

OP, 30% is too dark, you won't be able to see anything at night.
As everyone else suggested 50% is perfect.

roundel335, its illegal here in FL. A majority of cops don't really care.

I have 70% 3m Crystalline. I did it to block heat not for esthetics. Any tint on the windshield is a risk from a liability perspective. Get in a serious accident at night and you could have a serious issue. The darker the tint the greater risk you run in my opinion.

Brentster referred me to this thread and decided to link up my other post regarding the topic...

Let's just say I'm totally impressed by the tint. My car sat out in the beaming Texas sun all day today, and when I got in it at around 5:30pm, it was still nice and comfortable inside. And I have Sparkling Graphite Mettallic exterior with all black leather interior...
