Inherited my wife's E90 330xi

We recently ordered my wife a 2011 X3. Instead of trading in her 2006 330xi, I traded in my VW and laid claim to the Bimmer. And with only 40,000 miles, the engine is just broken in. Only negative.....the car is F-I-L-T-H-Y! I plan on getting it detailed soon, hopefully bringing it back to it's original glory.

What a sweet car the E90 330xi is! I'm not a huge fan of the run-flat tires and also find the seats to be a bit hard, but these are minor issues when accounting for all the positive attributes. I've never had so much fun driving a car before. In fact, i'm afraid i'll never be able to buy anything other than BMW from this point on.

Anyhow, just registered with the forum and thought i'd introduce myself. Keep up with the great posts.

You are correct, once you have had a BMW, you are ruined, you will find it difficult at best to drive any other make. Just remember this feeling when it comes time to repair, they are not cheap, but worth it. Chris

Nice! try and find a good detailer in your area- and for leather upkeep- I hear 'Leatherique' or 'Zaino' are some of the best leather seat care. Google 'Leatherique' -the before and afters are crazy. Take some pics once she is cleaned up! They are always welcome on here

Lol "inherited" - glad to see she's still alive.

It's a little confusing that, as written, it seems like you're only now realizing how good the 330 is to drive...did you not ever drive it or ride in it before you "inherited" it?

Anyway, congrats on the switch and welcome to the community. You should check the regional NY/NJ/CT/PA forum and come to a meet sometime!

Edit: I just ordered non-RFT tires for my car today. Cannot wait to check out the difference, I've hated the RFTs for 2 years and have been waiting for them to wear out.

interesting, wife gets the nicer car two iterations in a row. When I was still single, an older guy told me that should never happen, it must be spelled out up-front. Not for any other reason, but in most cases that I know the man cares more about cars, and he makes more $$$, so it's a bit odd when the wife is the one wearing the pants...

Then again, I guess there are plenty of men who stay at home while the wife works, if the wife is the breadwinner...

Detail the car yourself. The interior is easy to do and actually fun for some reason. Well fun might not be the right word.

It is, however, something that with a household vacuum cleaner and its attachments, Aerospace 303, and any leather cleaner / conditioner can be done very easily. In an hour, you could get 95% of the results of what a detailer could do. At least I can.

Way to perpetuate the "BMW owners are douchebags" stereotype, fellas...

there are many reasons why the wife gets the new car or the 330 to begin with

but indeed its rare that the wife would have a preference for a car over the man

let me get this straight, you had two cars in the family the bmw and vw and you never took the bmw for a spin? never randomly drove it to the store? never drove the car when you and your wife were going somewhere together? lol,, car has 40K miles and you are only now driving it and realizing how great bmws are? sounds odd..,,,if my wife made our family bmw filthy, we would have a big problem

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!
