What features does your car have that you don't use?

  • The button with the picture of the phone on it
  • The ability to store phone numbers
  • The automatic door locking
  • The full power of the engine
  • All the availabe radio station memory slots
  • BMW Assist
  • The flashlight in the glove box (but I'm glad it's there)
  • The cooled cup holder inside the armrest
  • The instantaneous MPG indicator -- why have BMW been putting this in their cars for years now?
  • Nearly all the music options for Track, Level, List, etc.
  • The emergency trunk release. The existence of this feature makes it plain to me that kidnappers don't drive BMWs . What I want to know is who accidentally gets shut into the trunk of an e9x?

This guy was kidnapped and locked in the trunk of his e92 M3. I wonder if he knew about the emergency trunk release...

Though I did LOL upon reading your post, it seems the real situation is nothing to laugh at. Perhaps his beating, ear loss and stab wounds prevented him from accessing the release pull??? He was found unconscious, after all. Also, the kidnapping aspect seems ancillary to the robbery, as opposed to being the intent of the crime. He was found in the trunk of his own car, and not many kidnappers would leave their victim in/at the victim's own property, and then depart, as to do so defeats the point of kidnapping someone.

I can't think of a single feature I don't use from time to time. The most seldom used features though are the back seat, the ski bag (never used- I just fold down the whole seat), and rear side sunshades. I also don't change my fluids by CBS. Also never used assist.

I use them all, except for the trunk release

Please share with us the stories of how you come to use the emergency trunk release more often than you fold down the seats. There just have to be several humorous anecdotes about that.

Dude...it's a safety feature. If you want to get all pedantic, why don't you tell us a story about how you use your airbags more often than the full power of the engine.

I use the backseat, more comfotable with the ladie friends then the front seats are. The least used feature I would have to say is automatic windshield wipers.

I don't use the x-ray vision goggles in the glove compartment, it's not ethical. I know the techs use them every time because I put some blue tape on them and it's torn when I get the car back.

As a side profession, I'm a REALTOR and the flashlight in the glove box has come in handy many, many times for me. Walking into a basement on a showing when the light switch isn't working, your flash light died, or whatever else makes for a pretty poor showing. Enter BMW flashlight.

THAT'S WHY IT'S COOLED!? All this time...

Ah, I figured this one out. It's to make you feel guilty about driving uphill or accelerating.

--

Aside from all that, another feature that I just don't fully understand is the ability to set the temperature but also set the cold/hot dial. If the car is blowing out 65F air, it's 65F. I shouldn't have to tell the BMW it's cold.

Oh man, I use the automatic windshield wipers faithfully. It's one of my favorite things and frustrating when I'm in a car that doesn't have it. The same goes for automatic headlights. Cars that don't have either of these wouldn't make my purchase list!
