Bimmer caught lying...

Why do bimmer's computer systems lie so much? It's been proven that the speedometer can be off as much as 5mph. Also it's been proven that the system lies about mpg. For instance when I parked today the mpg read 18, then when I got out of work and started up it said 17.8. WTH

Also when cruising the mpg sometimes can go as high as 40+mpg which is total bs. Is the outside temp gauge at least accurate? I feel like I can't trust anything the computer says.
