Well, my car has been 'In Production' since about april 16th. Do you think the order was just received and they are waiting for a production spot? My CA is not the smartest, and after my e-mail to him today asking when i'd get a vin, he responded with " once car is built ".... The 800 number just says my car is in production and completion by may 2nd. So basically, is my car not being built or is it really under production?

It should be completed by may 2nd unless anything changes because when my car was in production it was completed by the estimated date the 800 number gave me.

I believe, once your car has entered production, doesn't necessarily mean it is being created at that moment, but rather the car has been scheduled in the production line so that the parts and body and color will match when it is going through the body making, color, etc. There probably will be a VIN assigned at this point or it's in the process of being assigned....

If you call the BMWNA line and check production status it will eventually tell you if it is in the paint shop, or different areas in the assembly line etc. Once it is in the paint shop it usually completes within a day or two, and should be done by the date they say it will be completed.

Thanks guys. I called today and they said my order is going to be completed by 'May 4th'. I wonder why it was pushed back? I just want my car so badly. Gas is driving me mad in the ML500 and I miss the steering/nimbleness of the 3. It's annoying though because people say their car finished production early but of course mine is taking longer than expected.
