Details:
Quote:
This Car Control session is part of our graduated programs for drivers.

Our Car Control program is suitable for all, and is a wonderful safe way to learn more about yourself, your car. Whether you've been driving for ages, or are new to the game, you'll find the program informative and fun. It is a great way to brush up on safety skills that will help you be a better safer driver in all your day to day driving situations, and have fun doing so. The course is held at Pitt Meadows Airport on a closed off runway, so you can have FUN for the day with cones.

The day is packed with both opportunities to learn, and FUN while you are doing the learning. Instruction is provided for us by the skilled professionals at Driving Unlimited who also teach for BMW, Mercedes, Mazda and several other manufacturers.

The session is available to both members and non members, and a BMW is not required to attend and learn valuable safety skills. Bring the daily driver car of choice. [ok, within reason that is, a Unimog may not be appropriate, and there are other vehicles that may not be appropriate.] An excellent program for long time and new drivers alike.

Registration and prepayment is required. Use the following Karelo link to pay and register:
<http://www.karelo.com/register.php?BID=49&BT=10#Ev3988>

We are already one third booked for this day, so don't delay, register now.
Full Driver Training program details are at the following club link:

I have done several of the Mission days and they are a blast. Driving Unlimited puts on a top notch day and it is definately worth the money.

do they let you push your car? or they just teach you basic stuff like emergency braking, avoidance, etc?

They teach how to drive around a race course. You get to go in groups of 3 or 4 cars and you can push it but they want you to stay in control. The instructor will jump from car to car in your small group to give pointers. It's a real fun filled day and you end up appreciating that speed is for the track and you come away with a lot of better street driving skills. ...And you get a great booklet out of it.

The stuff you mention is for the 1st course which you must complete before you take this course at Mission.

I've signed up for the first course. Planning on doing the next level as soon as they offer it on a day that I can go.

Sigh. I hope this is not the start of the go-fast crack pipe.

You may as well start to inhale

I took part in this last year; through my dealership and it was an absolute blast. The morning is comprised of classroom walkthrough of the course, driving technique and slow-speed practice on some of the major corners of the track. Followed up by lunch and then in the afternoon, that's where they turn up the fun factor. Basically, all the M cars go out in a group, followed by us lowly 3'er owners in a second group. You hotlap for the better part of the late afternoon. I put over 100kms on my car on the track alone. AND, it's only a 1.8 mile track!!!

Well worth it for anyone who'd like to really know what their car is capable of; but this is a driver training course, not a license to street race. I may sign up again just for kicks. Not to sidetrack too much; but it's really not about the car at all; my mate tagged along with his miata, and held off an '02 S4 all afternoon! I would catch him on the straights in my 330, but he'd walk all over me in the corners, and on a track like Mission, our cars just don't stand up...

Paul...and those who have done this before...you might be interested in doing the next level up which is the "Road Skills" course.

Unfortunately the next two are on weekdays because they can't get track time on the weekend.
