JB3 for the N55

Running with the JB3 in my N55. So far so good. I only hope it performs like my JB3 did in my N54. I haven't been able to kick in in the a$$ yet. I've been rolling around town with the kids and the roads were wet. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this puppy runs without the leash.

I would appreciate your thoughts on the performance of the JB3 in the N55. I had it installed in my N55 ( I have nothing to compare it to). I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting more.

Same here, I definitely notice it on my car..but not what I thought it would be like. Again, I have nothing to compare it to. I'd also like to know if you're having any problems with yours. I've gone into limp mode three times already, and I've had it installed for about a month now.

We've had our for some time now. Pretty decent gains. The dyno can be seen here.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...0&postcount=27

Not had the opportunity to tune this car with anything else. It's gone 12.7 @ 113 in the 1/4 mile with just this tune, drag radials, and nice cool 40 degree temps. E90 car full weight and 198lb driver.

Correction, 12.7 @ 109. Not sure where that 113 came from.

If it's a code just cruising along on the freeway there is a firmware to fix it. Beyond that you'd have to check the code and email in for advice. On the general performance from what I understand the N55 is definitely not the N54. But the gains are significant over stock.

Biggest thing I noticed on the jb3 was very sensitive throttle and a surge of boost in the midrange. This was with sport mode on with the dct. The acceleration felt similar to stock when at full throttle though. I honestly can't say that my n55 procede is dramatic either but I am getting much more wheelspin..if I could put the power down I think it would be a dramatic difference. Stupid 245 runflats and cold, wet roads.

Nice time for a stock car! You should add it to this thread:

Mike

Who can I email for that? What's the email address? I don't have any lights come on on the dash, but my nav screen says something like "engine malfunction - reduced power" and once I turn it off and on it works again

I'd be interested to know how your experience turns out, and also the reason for nkadishas recurring limp mode

What's the limp mode? Is the car driveable and how do you get rid of the code?

It's drivable but the engine is at reduced power. You can turn the car off restart it and it clears itself. The code is stored but the functionality returns.

I've had it now for awhile and have gotten a ton of "limp"modes."Engine malfunction - Reduced power" I guess I need to refresh the firmware.
Seems to happen more when the a/c is on or when there has been a temp change (climate not car)
I had the JB3 in my N54 for almost three years w/o issue. It also seemed to run better. Not that I'm disappointed - it's still better than stock (sans the limp mode BS) I just think it'll take a while to bring the new JBs up to where the old JBs were on the N54s. I'm not really up for a bunch of USB updates to fix problems or screwing around with maps. I just like for it to kick ass "out of the box"

The last update fixed all of the known limp mode problems for my customers. Definitely update the firmware and settings. Details on BMS' forum.

+1

i'm currently running the JB3 Stage 1 with the updated firmware and custom settings with +5psi on 93 octane. Definitely feel a significant increase over stock.
