Grats you'll get yours soon! I'm not sure which boat I am on, I'll have to contact my CA tomorrow for that information, but I do know it's on a ship on its way. if that one left today, probably not on same boat. I think i'm on Elektra or Tristan. Probably Elektra though. Can't wait!!

Congrats! Is the Hojin scheduled to arrive on 4/13?

My car finished production and was en route to the port of exit on 3/18, the day the Hojin departed. Just missed it! Now, I believe, I'm waiting for the Volans Leader scheduled to depart on 3/31.

I'm not sure when it left port but 4/13 sounds right. I know it'll be in Panama on the 31st.

I found this site:
http://www.digital-seas.com

I'm not sure if there are better alternatives but this one gives you a position and ETA of the next stop.

Here's to us waiting for ships at sea.

Hey Tony,

The Grand Legacy took 3 weeks to get to the Panama Canal after leaving Bremerhaven and it is still sitting there. It stopped in New York first. At this rate your Hojin will catch up and pass me!

http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/def...0&type_color=7

Not sure what me my eta is anymore. My bet is I will see it at BMW of Seattle April 15 th. I ordered it 1/27. When do you think your BMW will be at the dealer?

Cheers!

I just checked the schedule for port of hueneme and it looks like Hojin is suppose to be there 4/12. I'm guessing my car will get to BWM of Bellevue two weeks after yours.

I ordered my car on 1/28, what an exercise in patience this has been huh?

Man, It seams like I ordered my 335d 6 months ago. I hope the Hojin breezes through the Panama Canal. Cheers Tony, by the way I bookmarked the two urls below to track the boats.

That sounds exactly like my situation, Tony. I ordered on January 28th, the car went into production on January 31st, and sat on the Marguerite Ace for about a month. Did you go through CarsDirect.com?

I didn't. I went through a local dealer , BMW of Bellevue.

That's really impressive that your order started production so soon! My car didn't go into production until week 10 because I ordered an option that wouldn't be available until then (BMW Apps).

A month on a boat is crazy! Where did take delivery?

The effed-up thing is, I haven't yet. They built the car in South Africa at the Rosslyn plant on January 31st, the car departed on February 21st to Bremerhaven on the Marguerite Ace, and now...I'm guessing it's either still on that boat or on the Hojin. My CA says it should be at the Oxnard VPC by April 13th, but we'll see what happens. I'm hoping it's on the Hojin, since it's scheduled to dock at Port Hueneme on April 12th. We'll see, though.

Hey Lord o Strings,

Ask you CA what boat you are on. My 335d was loaded on a boat 3/5 and it won't arrive at Port Hueneme until April 4th (30 days on a ship) so I can relate with you.

By the way, why was your car built in South Africa? Do they build certain engines or models down there?

Man, our e91 finished production on 3/16 and it still says I am waiting for a ship. West coast as well. Looks like we'll be waiting till 3/31 as well. This is painful. ;-)

Some of the 3 Series orders are built in South Africa, and some are built in Germany. I'm not entirely sure what the deciding factor is, as far as where it will be built, but I've read about there being allotments for each dealership. They have a certain limit of German vehicles they can order, and another portion of the orders gets manufactured in South Africa. I don't see anything wrong with it, though. The Rosslyn plant has a very high reputation amongst autophile forums and magazines, and their 3 Series vehicles are supposed to be among the highest in quality. The only bad thing about it is how long it takes for the damn thing to get here. :

Thanks for the info. By the way your Marg Aceship from south africa arrived at Bremerhaven on 3/18. The Hojin left Bremerhaven on 3/18. It could be on there Hojin if they could off load and then load the same day.

We're in the Pacific... I don't understand why but the boat did a loop and setup anchor after going through the Panama Canal.

Seems like most boats spend a few days going through the canal.

Congrats! That means you'll be picking up your car soon! Sleeping for you is going to become difficult next few days now that it's getting close. :P

Hey Tony,

reddemon73 was the man that started the tint discussion. Big thanks to him. Glad we could jump on it. My 335d is at Accutint Seattle right now getting tinted before I have even seen it. Maybe tomorrow night I can pick it up. Pictures are coming.. I ordered on 1/27..didn't think this day was coming Its hard to stay focused at work huh Tony By the way, 67R60 is an old BMW Motorcycle which is how I got my handle.

Cheers!
