Brand New N55 HPFP failure?

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum and also new to BMW. I just recently bought a 2011 335i M Sport Coupe.

The very first night I had it, the engine took about 1-2 seconds to crank before starting. A friend of mine who was sitting in the car at the time said it was an early sign of fuel pump failure. (He has had 4 HPFP replaced on his 2009 N54)

The car had less than 50 miles on it at the time. I considered giving it a few days to break in and see if the problem resolved itself.

Im on day 6 now (200) miles and when the engine takes long to crank it takes up to 2-4 seconds before starting. The car does not always do this. Actually, contrary to what I have been reading on the forums, the problem only happens when the car has been sitting for an hour or so. Start up is fine in the morning and when it has been sitting still for more than a few hours.

Are these early signs that there is a fuel pump problem?

i got my 2011 n55 last month as well, and just recently i noticed it takes slightly longer to start up ONLY after ive already driven it and the car is fairly warm. i read a post saying short trips are bad for the injectors, but this happens even after long drives and the car is fully warmed up. any help/advice would be nice too. i really hope we don't have hpfp issues already...and sorry, don't mean to thread jack at all, just want similar information

Soon after this post, squeaking sounds started coming from the engine. Took my car to the dealership shortly after. Ended up being a vacuum leak coming from the belt housing. Fixed under warranty, but took about a week.. hope this helps

Picked up my car Saturday and am hearing a similar squeak from the engine bay - visiting the dealer this coming Saturday, I will highlight this to them.

Thanks for the info.
