E10 being rejected in Germany!
Interesting article about this: http://www.leftlanenews.com/free-mar...n-germany.html
While legislators in the U.S. may have recently sent a message to reject the move from 10 to 15 percent ethanol in the nation’s gasoline, in Germany the motorists have strongly rejected even the 10 percent ethanol recently pushed by the European Union. The rejection by consumers comes after roughly half of the 15,000 gas stations in Germany began offering E10 fuel, according to AutoHaus, but before the rest of the nation’s stations could be converted, the Federal Minister has ordered a halt so that an emergency summit can be held in order to find a solution to the rejection of the new fuel. What has essentially happened is that drivers have chosen to almost entirely avoid buying the E10 fuel, which is Super grade of 95 octane but contains 10 percent ethanol, and are instead opting for the Super Plus, which is 98 octane but has no ethanol. The result is that gas stations are stuck with old supplies of E10 fuel that consumers refuse to purchase. Contrasted to the U.S. and select states, such as California, drivers are not given a choice of traditional fuel or an ethanol blend. Instead, the states have mandated the use of E10 across all fuel grades, and force consumers to purchase the often heavily subsidized ethanol blend, which is also known to return lower fuel economy. The upside to ethanol blends according to advocates is the reduction of tailpipe emissions. Those who argue against E10, such as the consumers in Germany and even environmentalists such as Greenpeace, say that the net environmental impact of ethanol-blended fuels is worse for the environment than traditional fuels. The Truth About Cars points out that the environmental protection group Greenpeace has even stated that, “E10 can ruin cars and the environment.” |

but we wont because our gas prices are high enough. and most americans are retarded to the point where they do not understand the effect ethanol has on gasoline engines.

But corn farmers love ethanol, as do politicians from farm states. No matter that it is bad for gas engines, is less efficient, arguably takes more energy to produce than it generates when burned, and raises the cost of food. Can anyone say E15?

You know the price of corn, and corn syrup and byproducts has doubled since the US Agri policy/EPA started this idiotic idea, all the while 3rd world countries are starving due to high corn prices...farmers love it, on top of their subsidies, everyone wins but the consumer...USA has it backwards, but what else is new?
How about a energy and transport policy? Oh, thats a good idea? I love motoring, but here in Chicago, why cant I take a train to St Louis, KC, Minny, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Indy for work, and not fly? Cause we aint got no railroads... |

People don't understand E10 gasoline is worse for the enviorment that gasoline. It takes eight gallons of water to make one gallon of ethanol, and one gallon of water to make a gallon of gasoline. Oil companies love using it to dilute their product, as it is cheaper, and make a bigger profit of the gasoline they sell.

Hmmm Porsche advertised that the facelifted 997 Turbo and Turbo S are E10, even E15 ready, so probably the car industry is slowly going in that way.
Bentley made the new Continental GT E85 ready (flexfuel). But on the other side, HPFP failiure rate in the US is extremly high and my thoughts are considered in that way, the high ethanol rate in the US gas...though it just my opinion. Yes, in Europe the 335i is not as widely spread as in the US, but I haven't heard of a single HPFP fail hear in Bulgaria, even our gasoline (no matter RON95,98 or 100) is full of sh*t!!! Just my thoughts...

Just use the green pump, no ethanol, maybe a smidgen of Biodiesel though.
